HOW TO INSTALL LOCAL CHARACTER SET SUPPORT FOR YOUR HP DESKJET PRINTER

NOTE: To print this file, type PRINT README.TXT
at the DOS (A:>) prompt. (The default [PRN]
is LPT1. IF you have connected the printer to
another port, enter that port in the command line,
for example, type PRINT README.TXT > LPT2 for parallel
port 2).

CONTENTS
======================================================================
This disk contains custom data files for the HP DeskJet Control
Panel for DOS that allow access to special character sets. One of
these special groups of character sets is included in the localized
printers for certain countries.
The following groups of character sets are supported on this disk:
Arabic - Arabic 8, Latin Arabic (Code Page 864)
Cyrillic - ISO 8859/5 Latin Cyrillic, PC Cyrillic (Code Page 866)
Greek - ISO 8859/7 Latin/Greek, PC-8 Greek
Hebrew - ISO 8859/8 Latin/Hebrew, Latin Hebrew (Code Page 862)
Totally it includes eight character sets.
Please follow the directions below to install the correct file for
your printer.

INSTALLATION DIRECTIONS
======================================================================
If you have not yet installed the printer driver software for your
printer, please do so at this time. Then do the following:
Find the appropriate subdirectory on this disc that matches the
character sets in your printer. Copy the file named SYMSETS.DAT from
this subdirectory to either directory.
Example:
for HP DJ1125C
COPY A:\PCP\SYMSETS\SYMSETS.DAT C:\HP1125C {Enter}
This will include the eight character sets as possible choices in
the Character Set box in the HP DeskJet Control Panel for DOS.
Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
