3Com Corporation 3CCFE574BT 10/100 LAN PC Card 3CXFE574BT 10/100 LAN PC Card Network Drivers Installation Notes Windows NT and Microsoft Windows Networking This document describes how to install the LAN card network driver for use with Windows NT v4.0 and v.3.51 and Microsoft Windows Networks. If you have Windows NT v3.50 or earlier, upgrade your system to v3.51 or later. Versions prior to Windows NT v3.51 do not have PC Card support, and therefore do not support the LAN card. Before you begin, obtain the Installation disk shipped with your LAN card and the Windows NT installation files. NOTE: If Windows NT is not installed, you will need the following information from your MIS department. Are you are a local area network (LAN) or are you using a modem? What protocol is being used in the Microsoft Windows network? (NWLink IPX/SPX compatible transport, TCP/IP protocol, NetBeui protocol.) Name of the NT server domain or workgroup IP address if you are not using DHCP. Windows NT Version 4.0 1. Insert the LAN card in the PC and connect it to the network, as described in the user guide. 2. Select the "Adapters" tab and click on "Add...". If NT Networking is not installed, Windows NT prompts that Windows NT Networking is not installed. a. Click Yes to install. b. Click Next unless you are using a modem to connect to the network. c. Click the Select from List button. 3. Click on the "Have Disk..." button. 4. Enter the path "A:\", insert the Installation disk in the A: drive, and then click on the OK button. 5. Highlight "FE574B-3Com 10/100 LAN PCCard-Fast Ethernet" and click OK. If Windows NT networking is installed, select the I/O and IRQ settings and click OK to save the settings. If Windows NT networking is not installed, select the network protocol and click Next. 6. If prompted, and you are not using DHCP, enter your IP address and subnet mask as supplied by your MIS department. 7. Click OK to save. 8. If prompted, enter the path to the location of your Windows NT files. 9. If networking is not installed, select Auto Detect the Frame Type and click OK. Select the domain or workgroup name and click OK. 10. Reboot the PC to activate the network. Windows NT version 3.51 1. Install the LAN card and connect it to the network as described in the user guide. 2. Go to the MAIN group and select Control Panel. 3. From the Control Panel, select the Network icon. a. If Windows NT networking is not installed, click Yes to install Windows NT networking. The Windows NT Setup window appears. b. Enter the directory name where the Windows NT installation files are located. c. Click Do Not Detect. d. Click Continue. The Add Network Adapter window appears. 4. When the ADD NETWORK ADAPTER dialog box appears, it displays a list of adapter names. Click the down arrow until you can select: <Other> Requires disk from manufacturer 5. When the list of adapters closes, click CONTINUE. This opens the INSERT DISK dialog box and prompts you for the location of a driver file. 6. Type the directory path, A:\ and click OK. 7. Select FE574B-3Com 10/100 LAN PCCard-Fast Ethernet and click OK. The LAN card files are copied to your PC. 8. Click OK to accept the default settings or enter new settings. 9. If networking is already installed, enter the IP address if prompted, and reboot the PC to activate the network. 10. If networking is not installed, select the transport protocol (NWLink IPX/SPX compatible transport, TCP/IP, NetBeui) in the Windows NT Setup window. a. Click OK. b. If prompted, enter directory where the NT installation files are located. c. Click No. d. Click OK. e. Click Close. f. If prompted, enter the domain or workgroup name for Windows networking and click OK. g. Remove the Installation disk and restart your PC. %VER 1.000.002Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
