1 Overview
===========
sk98ba.rom is the Boot Agent ROM file for the SysKonnect SK-9Exx,
SK-9Sxx, SK-95xx V2.0 and SK-98xx V2.0 Adpters.. It allows to boot from
network by the use of the PXE or the RPL protocol.

2 Installation
===============
2.1 Installation of the boot agent
-----------------------------------
sk98ba.rom must be flashed to the network adapter using the SK98DIAG
utility.
To flash the binary to the network adapter, proceed as follows:
1. Start SK98DIAG.
2. Select 'FLASH PROM ...' > 'Load FLASH PROM from file".
3. Type the path and filename of the binary (sk98ba.rom).
4. Press <ENTER>.
5. After the process is finished, exit the utility.
sk98ba.rom is now installed on the network adapter.
2.2 Removal of the boot agent
------------------------------
To disable all actions of sk98ba.rom, the network adapter FLASH PROM must
be cleared using the SK98DIAG utility.
To clear the Flash PROM, proceed as follwows:
1. Start SK98DIAG.
2. Select 'FLASH PROM ...' > 'Clear FLASH PROM'.
3. After the process is finished, exit the utility.
sk98ba.rom is now removed from the network adapter.

3 Operation of the boot agent
==============================
When booting with SK98BA, it displays the boot menu where you can choose
between the boot protocols PXE and RPL or decide to boot from the next
boot device. You can pick a default protocol, enter a timeout, select an
action if the boot attempt fails and you even can hide the boot menu. To
do so, enter the setup screen by pressing <F8>.
NOTE: If the boot menu is turned off, you can still enter the setup menu
by pressing <F8> while the version and copyright message of the
boot agent is displayed.

4 Troubleshooting
==================
If you have installed sk98ba.rom on the adapter but it does not show up
at boot time, enter the BIOS setup and look for the boot order setup. It
is called 'Boot', 'Boot setup' or something similar. Follow these steps
below to enable booting with sk98ba.rom:
1. Enter the BIOS setup during the boot operation.
If sk98ba.rom is correctly installed you will find the
entry 'B# D# SK Boot Agent' in the boot device list.
2. Change the boot device list: Set 'B# D# SK Boot Agent' as the
first entry. 'B#' and 'D#' show the bus number and device (slot)
number of the PCI slot, where the hardware is plugged in.
3. Restart your computer.
If this does not help, try reinstalling the binary.

Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
