Overview

This is the basic Gateway OEM Microsoft Windows 9x and Windows NT driver for the Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI sound card.

Installation

Windows 98 and Windows 95 Installation 

Download the file to the desktop, and then perform the following steps. 

1.  On the desktop, double-click the 7505358.exe file.

2.  In the Win-Zip Self Extractor window, click Unzip to expand the files to C:\Cabs\7505358.

3.  Close all open programs.

4.  From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

5.  In Control Panel, double-click the System icon.

6.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Device Manager tab.

7.  In Device Manager, under the Other Devices category, double-click PCI Multimedia Audio Device.

8.  In the PCI Multimedia Audio Device Properties dialog box, click Reinstall Driver.

9.  In the Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box, select Specify the location of the driver (Advanced), and then click Next.

10.  In the next dialog box, perform the following steps.

 a.  Select Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now (Recommended).
 b.  Select the Specify a location check box.
 c.  If the Removable media check box is selected, click to clear it. 
 d.  In the text box, type C:\cabs\7505358.
 e.  Click Next.

11.  In the next dialog box, to install the Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI drivers, click Next.

12.  In the Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box, to complete the driver installation, click Finish.

13.  In the 7505358 Properties dialog box, click Close.

14.  In Device Manager, under Other Devices, double-click PCI Input Controller.

15.  In the PCI Input Controller Properties dialog box, click Reinstall Driver.

16.  In the Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box, select Specify the location of the driver (Advanced), and then click Next.

17.  In the next dialog box, perform the following steps.

 a.  Select Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now (Recommended).
 b.  Select the Specify a location check box.
 c.  If the Removable media check box is selected, click to clear it. 
 d.  In the text box, type C:\cabs\7505358.
 e.  Click Next.

18.  In the Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box, to install the GamePortJoystick, click Next.

19.  In the next dialog box, to complete the driver installation, click Finish.

20.  In the Game Port for 7505358 Properties dialog box, click Close.

21.  In System Properties dialog box, click OK.

Installation Windows NT 4.0

Verify that Service Pack 4 or later is installed.

Download the file to the desktop, and then perform the following steps. 

1.  On the desktop, double-click the 7505358.exe file.

2.  In the Win-Zip Self Extractor window, click Unzip to expand the files to C:\Cabs\7505358.

3.  Close all open programs.

4.  From the Start menu, click Run. 

5.  In the Run dialog box, type C:\cabs\7505358\Sbsetup.exe.  Click OK.  

6.  In the dialog box that appears, click OK to install.


Removal

Windows 9x Removal

1.  From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, double-click the System icon.

3.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Device Manager tab.

4.  In Device Manager, double-click Sound, video and game controllers, select Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI 64D, and then click Remove.

5.  In the Confirm device removal dialog box, click Yes.
 
6.  Under Sound, video and game controllers, select Game port for Creative SB Live, and then click Remove.

7.  In the Confirm device removal dialog box, click Yes.

8.  Close Device Manager.

Removal for Windows NT 4.0

1.  Verify that the latest Service Pack is installed. 

2.  Verify that you are logged on as administrator or a member of the administrator's group for this local machine.

3   From the Start menu, click Run.

4.  In the Run dialog box, type C:\cabs\7505358\Sbsetup.exe.  Click OK.

5.  The SBSetup driver installation wizard launches.  Follow the on-screen instructions to remove the drivers and restart the computer when the process is finished.


Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting Windows 9x

If you have difficulty during or after the driver installation, perform the following troubleshooting steps. 

1.  Verify that all cables are securely connected.  

2.  Verify that the sound card is fully seated in the PCI expansion slot.

3.  Verify that the computer is set to analog or digital depending on the speakers you have by following this procedure

4.  Review the preceding software installation procedure.  Ensure that you did not miss any of the steps. 

5.  Ensure that your operating system is Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT as these drivers are only functional under for those operating systems.

Troubleshooting Windows NT 4.0

Verify that the latest Service Pack is installed.

If you have difficulty during or after the driver installation, perform the following troubleshooting steps.

1.  Verify that all cables are securely connected.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
