Installation Instructions for STB TVPCI Tuner Card 6000704.

					***WARNING****
This driver is specifically designed for Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition.  If you have ANY other operating system installed on your system (i.e. Windows 95, Windows 98) DO NOT INSTALL THIS FILE!!!

This driver will only work with video driver version 3.69 (part number 7507703)

Before the new driver is installed on the system, the drivers currently installed on the system for the TV Tuner card must be removed.  Because of the number of software components to be removed, do not restart the system until all steps are completed. The uninstall steps are:


Remove all related items under the Add\Remove Programs icon in Control Panel. 
Remove remaining items in Device Manager. 
Delete any Tvpci.inf files. 
Delete Control Panel icons 
1. Open the Add\Remove Programs icon in Control Panel. From the Install\Uninstall screen, select STB Visual Reality and click Add\Remove. 
2. The Confirm File Deletion dialog box appears. Answer Yes. 
3. Uninstallshield removes the STB Visual Reality software. Click OK.
4. Return to Add\Remove Programs and click the Windows Setup tab. Clear the check mark from WebTV for Windows and click OK. 
5. Answer No to restarting the computer. 
6. Go to Device Manager. Look for any related items under Sound, video and game controllers. Select each individually and choose Remove to delete it. Some devices are removed during the preceding steps. The complete list of items added to Device Manager by the TV tuner installation procedure are: 


STB TVPCI OEM FM WDM Audio Capture 
STB TVPCI OEM FM WDM Video Capture 
Closed Caption Decoder 
NABTS/FEC VBI Codec 
Wavetop [TM] NABTS/CC VBI Codec 

7. When finished, close Device Manager. 
8. On your screen, locate and click the Start button. From the Start menu, point to Find and then click Files or Folders. In the Named field, type Tvpci.inf and click Find Now. 
9. Delete any of these files.
10. To delete the Control Panel icons, repeat Step 8 and search for two file names - Stbtvpci.cpl and Stctlpan.cpl. Delete them. 
11. Deleting these files removes two Control Panel icons. Uninstall is complete. 
12. Reboot the system.
13. The system should detect the card on reboot, and ask for the drivers.  Do not install them at this time.

The TV Tuner needs three software components for proper functionality. They need to be installed in this order:


Microsoft's Web TV 
TV Tuner driver files 
Visual Reality (TV and FM Applications)

Web TV Installation
1. Insert the Windows 98 CD and close any screen it may launch. On your screen, click the Start button. From the Start menu, point to Settings and then click Control Panel. Double-click the Add\Remove Programs icon. Double-click the Windows Setup tab.
2. From the Windows Setup tab, select Web TV for Windows and click the Details button.
3. Select Web TV for Windows and click OK.
4. The Windows Setup dialog box appears again. Click OK and files begin copying from the Windows 98 CD.
5. File copying finishes and the computer must be restarted.
6. After restarting, the following items are added to Device Manager: Closed Caption Decoder, NABTS/FEC VBI Codec, and WaveTop (TM) NABTS/CC VBI Codec. Web TV installation is complete.  An icon is added to the task bar that looks like a TV, which will launch the application if it is selected.


TV Tuner Driver Files
1. Go to Device Manager.  Look under Other devices for a PCI Multimedia Video Device, and remove it.
2. Close out of Device Manager and reboot the system.
3. On reboot, the card will be detected and the drivers will be asked for.  Browse to the folder that contains the new TV Tuner drivers (the folder the downloaded file was extracted to).  The *.INF file that contains the setup information for the card will be located in the WIN98 folder.
4. Once the drivers are installed, the system will need to reboot.
5. The devices that should install will be "STB TVPCI OEM FM WDM Audio Capture" and "STB TVPCI OEM FM WDM Video Capture."


Visual Reality (TV and FM Applications
1. Browse to the folder that contains the new TV Tuner drivers, and double click on the "Setup.exe" file.
2. Click Next.
3. Click Next.
4. Files will be copied, and several information screens will appear.
5. A Setup dialog box will pop up stating that the installation is finished.  Click Finish.
