   Section A:   
   
   Important notice
   ================

   1.  	MDP7800-U can be set up on Windows 95 OSR1, Windows 95 OSR2, 
	Windows 98 or Windows NT but no support on WIN3.x platform.
	For set up on Windows NT, NT version of modem drivers are
        used.

   2.  	Voice and SpeakerPhone are not supported.

   3.	For better modem performance, please set the modem country 
	profile	to the country where you are in. For instruction how to 
	set the country profile, please refer to section F.

   4.	You can find a copy of the AT command set document 'atcomset.doc'
	in the windows directory after the installation of modem drivers.

   Section B:
	
   Installation of MDP7800-U modem drivers on  Windows 95 OSR1 platform
   ====================================================================

   1.   Win95 will automatically detect the MDP7800-U PnP Modem Card 
        and displays the "New Hardware Found" dialog box.

   2.   Insert the installation CD provided into the CD-ROM drive.
   
   3.   Select the "Driver from disk provided by Hardware manufacturer
        option and click OK.

   4.   Type A:\ (or B:\) in the combo box and click OK.


   You might encounter some resource conflicts after loading the PnP modem
   device (especially when there are non-Plug & Play adaptors installed in
   your system). To alter the resource configurations, go to Control Panel
   - System - Device Manager and click on "Modem". Choose the modem device
   and click on "Properties". You can change the settings to resolve the 
   device conflict.

   For further details, please refer to Trouble-shooting section in 
   Windows 95.

   Section C:

   Installation of MDP7800-U modem drivers on  Windows 95 OSR2 platform
   ====================================================================

   1.   Win95 will automatically detect the MDP7800-U PnP Modem Card 
	after which the system will prompt the "Update Device Driver 
	Wizard" dialog box.

   2.   Insert the installation CD provided into the CD-ROM drive.

   3.   Click "Next" to let system search for an updated driver.

   4.   Click "Finish" to use the found driver.
   
   5.   Click "Ok" when prompted to insert the installation disk. 

   6.   Change path to A:\ (or B:\) and click OK.

   7.   System will then automatically load all the necessary drivers and
        files needed.


   You might encounter some resource conflicts after loading the PnP modem

   ==============

   Section D:

   Installation of PCI modem drivers on  Windows 98 platform
   =========================================================

   Installation of modem drivers in Win98 is similar to Win95. 

   1.   Windows 98 will automatically detect the PCI modem.  
	Click "Next" to continue.

   2.   Insert the installation CD provided into the CD-ROM Drive.

   3.   Select "Search for the best drivers for your device. (Recommended)"
        and click "Next" to continue.

   4.   Enable "CD-Rom drive" selection and click "Next" to continue.

   5.   Modem Driver will be found on the installation CD. Click "Next" 
	to continue.

   6.   Click "Finish" to complete modem installation.

   7.   System will then automatically load all the necessary drivers and
        files needed.

   You might encounter some resource conflicts after loading the PnP modem
   device (especially when there are non-Plug & Play adaptors installed in
   your system). To alter the resource configurations, go to Control Panel
   - System - Device Manager and click on "Modem". Choose the modem device

   Section E:

   How to change the buzzer volume
   ===============================

   Dial-Up Networking
   ==================
   1.	In the Dial-Up Networking folder, click on the icon for the 
	connection whose properties you want to change.

   2.	On the file menu, click Properties.

   3.	Click Configure.

   4.	Adjust the Speaker volume slider bar to change to volume 
	level desired.


   Phone Dialer
   ============
   1.	In the Control Panel folder, double-click on Modems.

   2.	Click Configure.

   3.	Adjust the Speaker volume slider bar to change to volume 
	level desired.


   Hyperterminal
   =============
   1.	Key in ATL0 for low volume level.

   2.	Key in ATL2 for medium volume level.
	
   3.	Key in ATL3 for high volume level.

   4.	Key in ATM0 to mute the buzzer.

   Section F:

   How to change the modem country profile
   =======================================

   For better modem performance, please set the modem country
   profile to the country where you are in. Below is the instruction
   how to set the country profile for Win95 and Win98 respectively.

   Windows 95
   ==========
   1.	Go to start > Settings > Control Panel. Double click on 
	the country profile utility 'Modem Country Select'.

   2.	Set the country setting to the country where you are in
	and click OK.

   3. 	Restart the system.


   Windows 98
   ==========
   1.	Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel. Double click on
	Modems.

   2.	Click on Dialing Properties. Select the country where you
	are in under 'I am in this country/region:'. Click OK.

   3.	Restart the system.

   4.	Note that for Win98, please do not use the country profile
	utility 'Modem Country Select' to set the modem country
	profile.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
