   Section A:   
   
   Important notice
   ================

   1.  	The PCI modem can be set up on Windows 95 OSR1, Windows 95 OSR2, 
	Windows 98 or Windows NT but no support on WIN3.x platform.


   2.	For information how to use the AT command, please refer to file
	Atcomset.doc in the root directory of the installation CD.

   Section B:
	
   Installation of PCI modem drivers on  Windows 95 OSR1 platform
   ==============================================================
   1.   Win95 will automatically detect the PCI PnP Modem 
        and displays the 'New Hardware Found' dialog box.

   2.   Insert the installation CD provided into the CD-ROM drive.
   
   3.   Select the 'Driver from disk provided by Hardware manufacturer'
        option and click 'OK'.

   4.   Type D:\Win9x\ in the combo box and click 'OK'.
	(Assuming the drive letter of your CDROM is D)

	
   You might encounter some resource conflicts after loading the PnP modem
   device (especially when there are non-Plug & Play adaptors installed in
   your system). To alter the resource configurations, go to Control Panel
   - System - Device Manager and click on 'Modem'. Choose the modem device
   and click on 'Properties'. You can change the settings to resolve the 
   device conflict.

   For further details, please refer to Trouble-shooting section in 
   Windows 95.

   Section C:

   Installation of PCI modem drivers on  Windows 95 OSR2 platform
   ==============================================================
   1.   Win95 will automatically detect the PCI PnP Modem after
        which the system will prompt the 'Update Device Driver Wizard'
        dialog box.

   2.   Insert the installation CD provided into the CD-ROM drive.

   3.   Click 'Next' to let system search for an updated driver.

   4.   Click 'Finish' to use the found driver.
   
   5.   Click 'OK' when prompted to insert the installation disk. 

   6.   Change path to D:\ and click 'OK'. 
	(Assuming the drive letter of your CDROM is D)

   7.   System will then automatically load all the necessary drivers and
        files needed.

   Uninstallation

   Go to 'Control Panel'. Double-click on 'HSP Modem'. Click on 'Uninstall' button
   and then 'OK' to uninstall the MSP5800-U Modem.

   Section D:

   Installation of PCI modem drivers on  Windows 98 platform
   =========================================================
   Installation of modem drivers in Win98 is similar to Win95. 

   1.   Windows 98 will automatically detect the PCI modem.  
	Click Next to continue.

   2.   Insert the installation CD provided into the CD-ROM Drive.

   3.   Select 'Search for the best drivers for your device. (Recommended)'
        and click 'Next' to continue.

   4.   Enable 'CD-Rom drive' selection and click 'Next' to continue.

   5.   Modem Driver will be found on the installation CD. Click 'Next' 
	to continue.

   6.   Click 'Finish' to complete modem installation.

   7.   System will then automatically load all the necessary drivers and
        files needed.

   You might encounter some resource conflicts after loading the PnP modem
   device (especially when there are non-Plug & Play adaptors installed in
   your system). To alter the resource configurations, go to Control Panel
   - System - Device Manager and click on 'Modem'. Choose the modem device

   Uninstallation
   ==============
   Go to 'Control Panel'. Double-click on 'HSP Modem'. Click on 'Uninstall' button
   and then 'OK' to uninstall the MSP5800-U Modem.

   Section E:

   Installation of PCI modem drivers on  Windows NT platform
   =========================================================
   1.	Run the setup.exe located at D:\Winnt\
	(Assuming the drive letter of your CDROM is D)

   2.  	Modem Setup Wizard dialog box will pop out. Click 'Next'.

   3.   Click 'Next' again in the next dialog box.

   4.	'Install from Disk' dialog box will pop out. Type D:\Winnt\
 	and click 'OK'.

   5.	Next click 'OK' and finally click 'Finish' to reboot the system.

   Note:
    	If Windows NT does not copy files during the installation, please
	goto 'Windows NT/Inf' directory and delete unused oem*.inf and 
	oem*.pnf files, then try again.



   Uninstallation
   ==============
   1. 	Go to 'Control Panel' and click on 'PCtel Port' CPL.

   2. 	Click on 'Uninstall' button.

   3. 	Answer 'Yes' to the modem you want to delete.

   4. 	Go to the 'Windows NT/Inf' directory. Delete the OEM*.INF and 
	OEM*.PNF files the Pctel modem used.
    
   5. 	Restart the computer.

   Section F:

   How to change default Com Port to other Com Port
   ================================================

   To change to other com port, go to 'Control Panel'. Double-click on 
   'HSP Modem'. Click on the radio button corresponding to the Com Port 
   you want to change. Click 'Apply'.

   Section G:

   Installation of Trio DataFax Voice and other applications
   =========================================================
   To install Trio DataFax Voice and other bundled applications 
   , run Inst32.exe. Follow the online screen to proceed with
   installation.

   For further information of Trio DataFax Voice, please refer
   to Relnotes.txt under D:\Trio\TDFV53\ in the installation CD.

   Section H:

   How to install Microsoft Fax in Windows 98
   ==========================================

   If you are staying in US, go to directory 
   D:\Tools\oldwin95\message\us in Windows 98 installation CD.  
   For other countries go to D:\Tools\oldwin95\message\intl 

   1.  	First run wms.exe under the directory to install Microsoft 
	Messaging.

   2.	Next run awfax.exe under the same directory to install
	Microsoft Fax.

   For further information on Microsoft Messaging and Microsoft
   Fax, read wms-fax.txt under the same directory.

   Section I: 

   How to configure modem to work with DOS Box games or application
   ================================================================
   1.	Run Dosbox utility, Dosbox.exe located at Windows directory.
	Or click on Start > Run and then key in dosbox.exe.

   2.	Choose an IRQ . Make sure this IRQ is still available and
	not used up by other device. You can check this by clicking on 
	Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Device Manager.
	Select Computer and then click on Properties. Those IRQ number
	shown is the one already used up. Once an IRQ is selected, select
	the corresponding com port. Normally it follows the below standard 
	for Dos Box game/application.

   4.	In case your Dos Box game does not follow the above standard,
	please find out the IRQ corresponding to the com port you set
	from the game/application itself.

   5. 	Click 'OK' and restart the computer. Now you can play Dos Box
	games or use a Dos Box application but remember to set the com port 
	to what you have set in the Dosbox utility.

   Note : You don't have to use the Dosbox utility every time you want
      	  to play Dos Box game or use a Dos Box application. You just have 
     	  to remember the last settings in Dosbox utility and set it
	  accordingly.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
