READ ME for Universal Firmware Update Download


This download contains this the firmware update (bin) file, the Release Notes, and this READ ME file. Follow the instructions below to update your printer to the new firmware version. Please see the Release Notes for full description of the software.

For optimal results with all features, this firmware version should be used in conjunction with Kodiak Software RIP version 1.1.183 or newer.


1. On the printer control panel, take the printer offline.

2. Locate the update file you downloaded from the ColorSpan web site (the file accompanying this READ ME) and transfer it either to the computer running the Kodiak Software RIP or to another computer that has access to a shared Hot Folder on the Kodiak Software RIP.

3. Copy the update file to a Hot Folder. The file moves to the output queue on the route of the Hot Folder.

4. Place the printer online. The file is transferred to the printer. A message appears in the tree view as the update proceeds.

5. Verify the software update. Displaying the software version number on the printer’s control panel. Refer to the printer’s User Manual for instructions. You can also view the firmware version number on the Status tab of the Printer Properties page on the RIP (see “Status” on page 3-12 of the Kodiak Software RIP User Guide).

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
