UPLOAD PROCEDURE:

How to update your modem using the Flasher Utility fl_1XXX.exe

1.Launch the flasher utility from a DOS prompt.

2.Select the port to which your modem is connected

3.After the flasher utility has found the modem you will
get the option to "Upgrade Modem." Select that option.

4.When the flash upgrade process is complete you will be
notified that the "Modem Upgraded Successfully." Hit
     Enter. Then select Quit.

5.Your modem now has the latest revision of rom code. Power
cycle your modem by turning it off for a couple of seconds
and then turning it back on. You must now reset your modem's
novram to store the proper default settings.

   6. To ensure your modem is reset correctly use a terminal program
and reset the modem with AT&F2&W&W1Z

IF YOU ARE UPGRADING FROM PRE 1.440-09 FIRMWARE YOU MUST DO THE FOLLOWING
STEPS FOR WINDOWS 95. IF YOU ARE RUNNING 1.440-09, DO THE
FOLLOWING TO UPGRADE YOUR WINDOWS 95 DRIVER TO THE RELEASE VERSION.

** Due to changes in this code it was necessary to change the PnP ID
of the modem. This change will force Windows95 to prompt you to
install a new driver for your modem. This may also cause your
current dial-up scripts not to find the modem (they are looking
for the old PnP ID). **

7.**IMPORTANT** If you are using Windows 95, Go to the Control
Panel and double-click on Modems and Remove the currently
configured modem that you are updating.

8.**VERY IMPORTANT** If you are using Windows 95, copy the *.inf
files from this archive onto a blank disk, reboot your computer
and when promted for your Manufacturer's Driver Disk, insert the
disk with the new *.inf file.

----** IF you desire to return to the 1.300-XX code, you MUST use
one of the new versions of the flasher (3.0 or newer). The version
is visible at the top of the application window/screen .**----

***Important 33.6 Upgrade Notes:

(Not applicable to SupraSonic modems)
SupraFAXModems have been made using a couple different
datapump revisions. The results from issuing the ATI7
command tell you which datapump was used when
manufacturing your modem.

The list of possible results are:
RC288DPi Rev 05BA
RC288DPi Rev 04BC

If the result from issuing the ATI7 command was RC288DPi
Rev 04BC you can use our DOS flasher utility or our XModem
upload method to upgrade your modem to the latest firmware
revision. Although you will benefit from most of the
improvements made in the new firmware, you will not be able
to increase the maximum speed of your modem beyond 28,800bps.
We encourage you to use the flasher utility and update your
modem. Most users will experience improved performance.
If you would like to upgrade the datapump in your modem so
that your modem can connect at speeds up to 33,600bps,
complete the upgrade order form and email or fax it to us.
The upgrade is $40 plus shipping and handling charges.
There are multiple shipping options which are described
in the upgrade order form (SFMORDER.txt).

If ATI7 reports something other than the two options above
you might have a VFC modem. If you do, you CANNOT use the
V.34 flasher utilities. Check ATI3 to see if it reports VFC.
If you would like to upgrade the datapump in your modem so
that your modem will support the V.34 protocol with connection
speeds up to 33,600bps, complete the upgrade order form and
email or fax it to us. The upgrade is $40 plus shipping
and handling charges. There are multiple shipping options
which are described in the upgrade order form (SFMORDER.txt).

After flashing your modem to the latest firmware, you can
confirm whether your modem now supports 33.6 by issuing
ATI0 (that's i not 1) and the modem will respond with
either 28800 or 33600.
