* Driver Installation for Windows 2000/XP

Note: This guide is intended as an installation guide for all of
USB 2.0 Drivers. The snapshots and text may refer to the PCI to 
USB Enhanced Host Controller, this is just used to simplify the 
guide. Depending upon your hardware you could be seeing one of 
the following:

* Driver Installation Guide Format

This guide is laid out in four sections: Reinstalling Drivers for Windows 2000/XP,
New Driver Installation for Windows 2000/XP, Updating Drivers for Windows
2000/XP, and Verifying Driver Installation for Windows 2000/XP.

New Driver Installation for Windows 2000/XP: Use these instructions if you already
have an USB 2.0 Controller installed in your system. Remember that the first time
you start your system after installing it, it may take longer due to the fact
that the operating system is locating and installing drivers for it.

Verifying Driver Installation for Windows 2000/XP: Use these instructions to verify
successful driver installation on your system.


* New Driver Installation for Windows 2000/XP

Use these instructions if you already have an USB 2.0 Controller installed; but
you do not have the USB 2.0 driver installed.

Note: You must be logged on as Administrator or have administrator privileges to
install the USB 2.0 Controller on Windows 2000/XP.

During the operating system startup, the controller will be detected and Windows
will load embedded USB 1.1 and IEEE 1394 drivers.

1. When the Found New Hardware Wizard appears, click Next.
2. When the Install Hardware Device Drivers window appears, select search for a 
   suitable driver for my device (Recommended) and click Next.
3. The Locate Driver Files window will appear, uncheck all options except CD-ROM
   drives, (if the CD is not inserted; please insert the CD), and click Next.
4. Windows will report that it has found a driver for a Universal Serial Bus (USB)
   Controller. Click Next to continue.
5. When Windows is finished copying drivers, click Finish.


* Verifying Driver Installation for Windows 2000/XP

Use these instructions to verify successful driver installation on your system.
1.  To verify that the driver is installed; right-click on the My Computer desktop
    icon, select Properties, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
2.  Then click on the "+" (plus) sign next to Universal Serial Bus controllers to
    expand the list.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
