README.TXT Driver File Contents (MDMUSRVI.EXE)

This .inf file, created by US Robotics, replaces the MDMUSRVI.INF
file on the Dell-supplied USR 33.6 PnP Driver v1.0 diskette.  This file is for USR PnP modems used in Dell Computers only.

Installation of .INF file:
	1) After running the self-extracting file MDMUSRVI.EXE at a DOS prompt or 	DOS-window, copy the MDMUSRVI.INF file onto the USR 33.6 PnP    
	driver diskette.  This will overwrite the old file.

	2) Remove the modem from the Windows 95 device manager.
		a) Click on Control Panel.
		b) Double-click on the Modems icon.
		c) Highlight the modem to be removed. Click on Remove.

	3) Add the modem to the Windows 95 device manager.
		a) Click on Add.
		b) Mark the box to not allow Windows to detect modem. 
		Click on Next.
		c) Click on Have Disk. The default drive to copy drivers from
		is normally floppy drive A:.
		d) Insert USR 33.6 driver diskette into drive A:. 
		Click on ok. The modem model name should appear 
		in the dialog box.  
		e) Click on Next.
		f) Highlight the port the modem is using. Click on the Next.
		g) Click on Finish.
		h) Close the Modems Properties dialog box.

	4) Shutdown Windows and restart.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
