=========================================================================== Integral Technologies, Inc. FlashKey Developer Kit 1.1 10/13/97 =========================================================================== This file contains last minute information about the FlashKey software. Currently only Windows 95 (16 & 32 bit) is fully supported. Windows NT (32 bit) is supported for display only. The SDK manual is provided in PDF format. If you need the Adobe Acrobat Reader, you can get it from www.adobe.com. New API calls are documented in NEWAPI.TXT in the \FLASHKEY\DOCS directory. =========================================================================== Installation Windows 95 users who have installed FlashKey software versions 1.0 or older will need to change the device driver before installing this release. Open the System Control Panel, choose the Devices tab, and then expand the entry Sound, video and game controllers. You should see a FlashKey PCI Video Device. If not, expand Other devices. Double click on FlashKey PCI Video Device. Select the Driver tab and click on Change Driver. Next, click on Have Disk, insert Disk 1 of the FlashKey Setup disks, and click on Browse. Select FKEY.INF from FlashKey Setup Disk 1 (A:\) and click Okay. After the driver has been updated, run the setup program from disk 1. If you are installing the FlashKey for the first time, insert the card into a PCI slot and connect the pass through cable to your VGA display adapter. After the FlashKey card is installed, select "Driver from disk supplied by hardware manufacturer" when prompted by Windows 95. This will install the basic VXD that controls the FlashKey card. To install the FlashKey Software Developer kit: Run SETUP.EXE from disk 1. Make sure and restart your system before using the FlashKey software. You will need to align the video overlay to your display mode by running FKGRAB (or FKGRAB32) and selecting Align from the Setup menu. The Auto button should align the overlay. Make sure to select Composite or SVideo from the Setup/Video menu. Choose Save Settings from the File menu to save your selections. You should add the FlashKey LIB and INCLUDE directories to your compiler's search paths before compiling the example code or your own FlashKey applications. Alternately, copy the .LIB and .H files to directories already in the search paths. =========================================================================== Components FlashKey Grab Application ------------------------- This application is used to display video-in-a-window under Windows and to load and save captured video to various file formats. The executable and source code (Microsoft C) are both provided. FKGRAB.EXE is the 16 bit executable and FKGRAB32.EXE is the 32 bit version. FlashKey MCI overlay driver --------------------------- This driver is used to provide video overlay capabilities to Windows applications that can talk to a hardware device via the Microsoft MCI protocol. FlashKey Video for Windows -------------------------- This driver provides capture and playback capabilities to Video for Windows applications. This driver can capture 320x240 30fps directly to disk using the "Aura 1 Compressed" format. FlashKey TWAIN driver --------------------- This driver is used to capture images from within Windows applications that support the TWAIN interface. See the README.TXT file in the TWAIN directory for more information. FlashKey Windows Developer Tools (16 & 32 bit) ---------------------------------------------- The Windows developer tools consist of the DLLs and import libraries along with the necessary .H files to link and include with your application. Source for the Windows FKGRAB application and some other sample programs are included to demonstrate library usage under Windows. Also included are the DLLs needed to support JPEG and TIFF load and save. =========================================================================== Credits The JPEG code used in this software is based in part on code provided by The Independent JPEG Group. =========================================================================== Limitations and Gotchas Windows NT is currently supported for display only. IRQ functions are not yet implemented. Note that all FK_xxx routines return SHORTs. Beware of sign extension when assigning the return value to a 32 bit integer. =========================================================================== History Release 1.1 10/13/97 Added 32 bit TWAIN driver Added FK_OverlayEnable() Changed AVVXP524.VXD to FKEY.VXD Release 1.0 8/1/97 Added FK_GetKeyMode() and FK_SetKeyMode() Added FK_GetKeyValue() and FK_SetKeyValue() Added FK_GetAlignment() and FK_SetAlignment() Beta 1.0b1 5/2/97 1st Beta Release =========================================================================== Bug Reports and Comments Please include the following information: System configuration (machine brand, processor, memory, VGA card) Environment (Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0) Compiler brand and version Bug description (steps to produce, is it consistent?)
