		   NDIS 2 Driver Installation

EN2220 has NDIS 2 driver support for the following environments:

   - Microsoft LAN Manager
   - IBM LAN Support Program

Before you execute the NDIS 2 driver, you have to execute the EN2220
card enabling program CBOPEN.EXE first.

The EN2220 Microsoft LAN Manager NDIS driver and installation files are
stored under the \MSLANMAN.DOS directory on the driver disk:

   \MSLANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\ACCTON\ETHCB

       EN2220.DOS The DOS NDIS MAC driver
       PROTOCOL.INI        A sample PROTOCOL.INI file

   \MSLANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\NIF

       ETHCB.NIF           Installation Network Information File

The EN2220 NDIS driver support for other environments are stored under the
\NDIS directory. The organization of this directory is as follows:

   \NDIS

       PROTOCOL.INI        A sample PROTOCOL.INI file

Sample PROTOCOL.INI Files and Parameters
----------------------------------------

[ETHCB_NIF]

  DRIVERNAME = EN2220$
; Slot = 1            ;; {1-16}
; SIA_Mode = AUTODETECT
; {SIA_Mode = TP, TP_FULL_DUPLEX, AUTODETECT}
; DATA_RATE = MB10   ;; {MB10, MB100}

There are several parameters included in the ETHCB_NIF section of the
PROTOCOL.INI file. However, the only parameter that is necessary to specify
is the "DRIVERNAME."

If you change other parameter settings, such as the SIA_MODE, make sure
that it matches the hardware setting. Otherwise, the card may fail.

If you don't specify these settings, the NDIS/2 driver will try to detect them
automatically.

SLOT Specifies which CardBus PC Card is activated by the driver. If you
	    have only one EN2220 card in your machine, this parameter
	    is unnecessary. For two or more EN2220 cards, this
	    parameter is required and cannot be omitted from PROTOCOL.INI.
	    For the first EN2220, set Slot=1, and for the second one, set i
	    Slot=2, etc.

SIA_MODE Specifies the medium type used by the card. Acceptable values
	    for this parameter are AUTODETECT, TP, and TP_FULL_DUPLEX. If you
	    didn't specify this parameter, it would be set to AUTODETECT.

DATA_RATE Specifies the line speed. Default value is MB100.

	    MB100: 100Mbps, MB10: 10Mbps

TX_THRESHOLD
	    Specifies the FIFO threshold level during packet transmission.
	    Acceptable values are:

	    Keywords    Level  (Bytes)
	    ========    ==================
	      LW128        128
	      LW256        256
	      LW512        512
	     LW1024        1024
	       FP          full packet

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
