                   Windows 2000 Installation Guide

1) Boot into Windows 2000.
2) Insert the COMpad serial card into PCMCIA socket, Windows 2000 will
   detect this card and start the 'Found New Hardware Wizard', click 
   'Next' to continue.
3) Select 'Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended)',
   click 'Next'.
4) Select 'Specify a location', leave the other options be empty (don't
   select them), click 'Next'.
5) Clcik 'Browse' to change the location of 'Copy manufacturer's files 
   from' box to the folder contains COMpad driver files, click 'OK', 
   Windows will search for the suitable driver automatically, make sure 
   the found file is ....\Compad4\Win2000\COMpad2K.inf, click 'Next' to continue.
6) After the needed files are copied (you may need the Windows 2000 setup
   disc during copy files), click 'Finish'.
7) A 'Multifunction Device' was found and the 'Found New Hardware Wizard'
   start immediately, click 'Next'.
8) Select 'Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended)',
   click 'Next'.
9) Select 'Specify a location', leave the other options be empty (don't
   select them), click 'Next'.
10)Clcik 'OK', Windows will search for the suitable driver automatically,
   make sure the found file is ....\Compad4\Win2000\COMpadP.inf, click 'Next' 
   to continue.
11)After the needed files are copied (you may need the Windows 2000 setup
   disc during copy files), click 'Finish'.
12)Windows 2000 will detect and install the rest 3 'Multifunction Device'
   automatically.
13)Go into 'Device Manager', you will see 4 new added 'Communications Port'
   under the 'Ports (COM&LPT)' section, they are the ports of COMpad serial
   PCCard.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
