The driver (SMC1211.SYS) contained in the directory NDIS3 is for
the following SMC PCI Ethernet adapter:

        SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211TX).

The driver (SMC1211.SYS) conforms to the Network Driver Interface
Specification (NDIS) 3.1, and is used with Microsoft Windows 95,
Windows 95 OSR2.

(A) Installing NDIS3 Miniport driver in Microsoft Windows 95

    1. Plug the SMC1211TX adapter into one of the Master PCI
       slots of your PCI platform.
    2. Turn the power ON and then boot into Windows 95.
    3. Windows 95 will prompt with "PCI Ethernet Controller" in
       the "New Hardware Found" dialog box.
    4. Select "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer"
       from the "New Hardware Found" dialog box, then click the OK button.
    5. Insert the SMC1211TX Driver Diskette in your floppy drive.
    6. Enter the driver pathname, i.e. A:\NDIS3, then click the OK
       button in the "Install from Disk" dialog box.
    7. Follow the screen's prompt to insert the "Windows 95 CD-ROM"
       and click the OK button in the "Insert Disk" dialog box.
    8. Otherwise enter the full pathname of the "Windows 95 CD-ROM"
       installation files in the "Copying Files..."  dialog box,
       then click the OK button.
    9. Windows 95 will copy the driver (SMC1211.SYS) from A:\NDIS3
       to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and the SMC1211.INF file
       from A:\NDIS3 to C:\WINDOWS\INF directory.
   10. Remove the SMC1211TX Driver Diskette from your floppy drive.
   11. Restart your computer to initialize the network function.

       NOTICE!! C:\WINDOWS is the directory where your Windows 95
                O.S. is located.


(B) Installing NDIS3 Miniport driver in Microsoft Windows 95 OSR2

    1. Plug the SMC1211TX adapter into one of the Master PCI
       slots of your PCI platform.
    2. Turn the power ON then boot into Windows 95.
    3. Windows 95 will prompt with "PCI Ethernet Controller" in
       the "New Hardware Found" dialog box and the "Update Device Driver
       Wizard" dialog box.
    4. Insert the SMC1211TX Driver Diskette in your floppy drive.
    5. Click the "Next >" button in "Update Device Driver Wizard"
       dialog box.
    6. Windows 95 will prompt with "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211TX)."
       in the "Update Device Driver Wizard" dialog box.
    7. Click the "Finish" button in the "Update Device Driver Wizard"
       dialog box.
    8. Enter the full pathname A:\NDIS3 of the SMC1211.INF file, then
       click the OK button in the "Copying Files..." dialog box.
    9. Follow the screen's prompt to insert the "Windows 95 CD-ROM"
       and click the OK button in the "Insert Disk" dialog box.
   10. Otherwise enter the full pathname of the "Windows 95 CD-ROM"
       installation files in "Copying Files..." dialog box,
       and then click the OK button.
   11. Windows 95 will copy the driver (SMC1211.SYS) from A:\NDIS3
       to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and the SMC1211.INF file from
       A:\NDIS3 to C:\WINDOWS\INF directory.
   12. Remove the SMC1211TX Driver Diskette from your floppy drive.
   13. Restart your computer to initialize the network function.

       NOTICE!! C:\WINDOWS is the directory where your Windows 95 OSR2
                O.S. is located.



(C) Configuring NDIS3 Miniport driver in Microsoft Windows 95 (OSR2)

    1. Click the "My Computer" icon in the Main Program Group.
    2. Click the "Control Panel" icon in the My Computer window.
    3. Click the "Network" icon in the Control Panel window.
    4. Select the "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211TX)." item
       from the "Network" dialog box, and then click the "Properties" 
       button.
    5. Click the "Advanced" button in the "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211TX)"
       dialog box.
    6. Select the Line Speed value (Auto,100full,100half,10full,10half
       from the "Value" item, and then click the OK button in the
       "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211TX) Properties" dialog box.
    7. Click the OK button in the "Network" dialog box.
    8. Restart your computer to initialize the new configuration.

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
