The internationalized version of Install Shield does not support Arabic, however, the driver does. INSTALL AND REMOVE INSTRUCTIONS: This software is installed automatically by the Microsoft Windows Hardware Installation Wizard. When the hardware is detected, the Wizard will prompt for the disk containing the device information file. Cancel out of the Hardware Install Wizard, and run the Setup program once the computer finishes booting. Factory Install/ Driver Install To run the utility before login for installation along with the OS, use the RunServicesOnce key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ RunServiceOnce needs to have a value, ADI_Install, whose data is <Path to Setup files>\Setup.exe -s entered in the registry. This entry can be made using the MSBATCH.INF file during installation of the OS. The Setup.exe program is copying the files needed by the Hardware Setup Wizard to automatically load the driver. Because the RunServicesOnce key launches programs asynchronously, the developer writing the install script must make sure this setup has completed before the Hardware Wizard starts. The amount of time required for the setup application to finish will depend on where the setup application is running from. For example, it takes approximately 15 seconds to run from a hard drive. To run the utility after login for installation along with the OS, use the RunOnce key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce needs to have a value, ADI_Install, whose data is <Path to Setup files> \Setup.exe -s entered in the registry. This entry can be made using the MSBATCH.INF file during installation of the OS. The developer writing the install script will need to cancel out of the Hardware Wizard when it detects a board and is requesting the drivers. The RunOnce key will then execute the setup just after windows finishes booting. The system will need to be rebooted to finish the install using this registry key. Install and Update 1. Run Setup.exe. 2. Choose to reboot at the end of the install program. The system will reload the drivers and make any adjustments in the INF file if so required. Uninstall 1. Go to Start\Settings\Control Panel. 2. Click on the System icon. 3. Select the Device Manager tab. 4. Double-click on Sound, Video, and Game Controllers. 5. Click on the "SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio" heading. 6. Click on the Remove button at the bottom of the window. 7. Click on the OK button in the dialog box that pops up. 8. Close the Device Manager window. 9. Go to the Add/Remove programs icon and double-click on the SoundMAX uninstall. This procedure will remove all files loaded at install, and the installer will need to be run again before the sound system will work. There are issues with Windows 98 Gold that will cause problems in Direct Sound. This driver is intended to be used with Windows 98 SE. This driver will run under Windows2000,but has not gone through the full test process. This driver was loaded on a system running Windows 2000 (build 2031). It would not load with Windows 2000 (build 2020). The Microsoft audio driver also did not load with this build. This has been reported to Microsoft. 1. The system must contain one of the following Intel processor and chipset configurations: Chip set: Intel(r) 810 Chipset Intel(r) 820 Chipset Processor: Intel(r) Pentium(r) II processor Intel(r) Pentium(r) II Xeon(tm) processor Intel(r) Celeron(tm) processor 2. Ensure that a mouse is connected to the system. 3. One of the following operating systems must be installed on the system: Windows 98 SE 4.10.2222 Windows 2000 Professional (build 2031) This driver is built for the Microsoft(R) Windows(R) Operating Systems that support the WDM driver model, currently Windows 98 and Windows 2000. SOFTWARE SUPERSEDED: 4.10.2120 BIOS DEPENDENCIES: [Enter any BIOS dependencies associated with this deliverable.] PRODUCT ENHANCEMENTS/FIXED DEFECTS: [Identify all fixed defects and product enhancements to the component in this section] * Fixed 3 db attenuation problem when playing streams other than 44 KHz. * Added code to remove popping sound after putting the unit in SUSPEND. PRODUCT ENHANCEMENTS/DEFECTS NOT COMPLETED IN THIS RELEASE: [Identify all defects and product enhancements scheduled but not completed in this section] KNOWN ISSUES & BUGS: [Identify all known issues or defects that are not fixable or scheduled to be released. Include relevant component interaction issues that will impact the deliverables behavior.] Track # 71 DESCRIPTION: Problem occurs while loading the 1881 driver, Version 4.10.2111. The subsystem ID returned by the bios is incorrect. Reported in driver version: 4.10.2111 Comments: For windows 98, the subsystem is used to aid in identifying and matching the inf file to the hardware. If the bios returns an unexpected subsystem number that is not in the inf file then the drivers will not load correctly. A temporary work around for this problem is to include the subsystem ID returned by the bios until the bios is corrected. Track # 76 DESCRIPTION: If MIDI, AVI, and wave files are played and then the wave file is muted, the MIDI is also muted. Only a snippet of MIDI is heard every few seconds. Reported in driver version: 4.10.2111 Comments: This is an issue relating to KMIXER. It is responsible for the mixing, attenuation, and muting of the "soft" audio streams. Track # 77 DESCRIPTION: All full-duplex testing in ACT fails. There are more problems on Whitney platform than on Camino platform. Reported in driver version: 4.10.2111 Track # 83 DESCRIPTION: A pop occurs on start and exit of Windows. Comments: This is not a driver issue. This is a hardware issue. Track # 85 DESCRIPTION: There is additional static on MIDI when heavy I/O and DMA are off. Comments: This is not a driver issue. This problem is specific to planar design.
