   INSTALLATION FOR UNIXWARE SVR4.2

     1.0     Installation for UnixWare

     1.1     Install the SmartEnabler

	 To install the Accton SmartEnabler for UnixWare
	 a user needs to do the following:

	 Insert the Accton SmartEnabler for UnixWare diskette
	 in floppy drive 0 and type the following command
	 to add the package to UNIXWARE:

	       pkgadd -d/dev/dsk/f03dt	     <Enter>

	Next, select the go option to allow the installation utility
	of UnixWare to process the package.  Wait until the
	installation process completes and then shutdown (reboot) the
	system to allow the new driver to run.


      ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿
      ³  NOTE:								     ³
      ³        The Enabler requires a LAN card to be in place or plugged     ³
      ³        into a PCMCIA slot before booting the UnixWare.	This version ³
      ³        of the driver is only a virtual device driver, it is not  a   ³
      ³        Socket Service or Generic enabler.  Until Accton releases     ³
      ³        the Socket Service driver the user must follow this advice    ³
      ³        to make the LAN card work under UnixWare.		     ³

     1.2 Remove the SmartEnabler

     To remove the SmardEnabler from UnixWare SVR4.2, a user needs to
     do the following:


    1.2.1  Logon as root and at the # prompt type:

	    Pkgrm lsen		   <Enter>

       The user should see the following message:

      1.2.2  The user should type:

	   "y"                       <Enter>


      Next the system informs the user that the package is being removed
      and updating system information. Finially, the user should see the
      following massages on the screen if the package is removed successfully:

     ³	 Removal of <lsen> was successful.			    ³
     ³								    ³
     ³	 *** IMPORTANT ***					    ³

     ³	     If removal of all desired packages is complete, the    ³
     ³	     machine should be rebooted in order to ensure sane     ³
     ³	     operation. Execute the shutdown command with the	    ³
     ³	     appropriate options and wait for the "Console Login:"  ³
     ³	     prompt						    ³

     1.2.3   Finally the user should reboot the system to allow the
	     new kernel to take effect.




      2.0 Installation for UnixWare enabler from tar file

      2.1 To install the Accton SmartEnabler from file to UnixWare:
      -----------------------------------------------------------

  Steps to install the SmartEnable on the UnixWare platform:

     1. Change to the /tmp directory via following command
	cd /tmp <Enter>

     2. Copy the acen4uxw.tar file from the DOS diskette to /tmp directory:
	doscp a:acen4uxw.tar ./acen4uxw.tar.Z <Enter>

     3. Uncompress the tar file
	uncompress acen4uxw.tar <Enter>

     4. Change to the /usr/spool/pkg directory by issuing follow command
	cd /usr/spool/pkg <Enter>

     5. Detar the file:
	tar xvf /tmp/acen4uxw.tar <Enter>

     6. Run the pkgadd command as follows:
	pkgadd <Enter>

     7. Follow the standard pkgadd installation procedure.





       Appendix A: Configure the NE2K drivers for UnixWare


       A-1    Configure NE2K driver for UNIXWARE


       A-2.1  Install the NE2K driver supplied by Novell. The driver
	  must be installed at these specific I/O address and IRQ
	  number:

	I/O base address = 0x300	(Hexdecimal)
	IRQ	 = 10		(Decimal)








How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

• Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

• If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

• Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

• Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

• Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

• From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

• Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
