CABLEHLP.TXT Driver File Contents (sj664en.exe)

The setup program looks at your system to determine how you should connect your scanner and tells you here.

USB:

Universal Serial Bus (USB) is an interface available on newer PCs and is the easiest way to connect you scanner. USB has its own type of cable, connectors and software drivers.

Parallel:

Parallel is an interface available on almost all PCs. Parallel has its own type of cable, connectors, and software drivers.

* You can "chain" the scanner and your printer off of the same parallel port on your PC. HP does not support other configurations.

* If you connect your printer to the parallel port of the scanner, and you want the best performance and compatibility, verify that your printer complies with the IEEE 1284.3 standard. This standard allows the scanner and printer to fully share the parallel port. Check with your printer manufacturer for compliance information or the latest printer drivers.
