* 1.  OVERVIEW
****************************************************************************
The SMSC IrCC Software Installation Utility installs to the target system
a Windows* INF file and a smcirda.sys file which outline to the operating 
system how the IrCC components will be configured. 

This is needed for the proper functioning of the following features:

   - IrDA Ver 1.1 Wireless Infrared Technology Support
   - Correct Configuration of SMSC IrCC components
   - Correct Identification of SMSC IrCC Components in 
     Device Manager

* 2.  SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS 
****************************************************************************
1.  The software included with this distribution package is 
     designed to operate only with SMSC IrCC devices.

              
2.  The following are the only operating systems supported
    in this release:
                                 
    Windows ME 4.90.3000  (Original release)
    Windows 2000

    To verify which operating system has been installed onto 
    the target system, follow the steps below:

    a.  Click on Start.
    b.  Select Settings.
    c.  Select Control Panel.
    d.  Double-click on the System icon.
    e.  Click on the General system properties tab.
    f.  Verify which OS has been installed by reading
         the System information.
                              
3.  The software should be installed on systems with at
    least 32 MB of system memory.


    Please check with your system provider to determine which 
    operating system, and if Victory66 SLC90E66 is installed in your system.

* 3.  INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE 
****************************************************************************

1.  Check the System Requirements. The operating system must be fully
    installed and running on the system before running this software.

2.  Close any running applications. Otherwise, you may experience 
    difficulties.

3.  Run the InstallShield* installation program SETUP.EXE, located in the
    Installation Utility diskette, from the Start\Run prompt.

4.  You will be prompted to agree to the license agreement. If you do not
    agree, the Installer will exit before extracting any files.

5.  Otherwise, Setup.exe will install the SMSC Ircc INF files, and System
    files to your hard drive and will reboot the system.
    
6.  Before and after the operating system has rebooted, follow the 
    on-screen instructions and use the default settings 
    to complete the setup. 

7.  This completes the Software Installation Utility for SMSC IrCC Miniport
    Device Driver Version 4.10.1999.4.

* 4.  UNINSTALLING THE SOFTWARE 
****************************************************************************

1.  Close any running applications.  Otherwise, you may experience
    difficulties.

2.  Run the InstallShield* installation program SETUP.EXE, located in the
    Installation Utility diskette, from the Start\Run prompt,
    a second time, in order to uninstall this software.

3.  You will be prompted to agree to the uninstallation.

4.  If you agree to uninstall, SETUP.EXE will remove all installed 
    SMSC IrCC INF files and components in Device Manager,
    and reboot the system.

5.  Before and after the operating system has rebooted, follow the 
    on-screen instructions and use the default settings 
    to complete the uninstallation.

6.  This completes the Software Uninstallation Utility for SMSC IrCC 
    Miniport Device Driver Version 4.10.1999.4.
