Getting Started - Remove all the PC Cards with the system off - Start up your system and Windows 2000 - Insert the AMB8110 PC Card into a PCMCIA Slot - After Windows 2000 detects the AMB8110, the "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog will be displayed, click "Next" to continue. - Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device [recommended]" option, then click "Next" to continue. - Select the "Floppy disk drives" option, insert the Installation disk into floppy drive,then click "Next" to continue, Windows 2000 will automatically find the installation file for you. - When you see the "A:\AMB8110.inf" on the screen, click "Next" to continue, Then a "Digital Signature Not Found" dialog will pop up, you just simply click "Yes", WIndows 2000 will copy All the Driver files for you. then you click "Finish". It is done. 3. Installation for Microsoft Windows 98 ====================================== 1. Introduction Windows 98 provides a complete "Plug and Play" System that will automatically recognize and configure the AMB8110. Please have the Windows 98 CD ready if Windows 98 system was not pre-installed on your Notebook PC. 2. Getting Started - Remove all the PC Cards with the system off. - Start up your system and Windows 98 - Insert the AMB8110 PC Card into a PCMCIA Slot. - After Windows 98 detects the AMB8110, the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog will be displayed, click "Next" to continue. - Select "Search for the best driver for your device [Recommended]" option from "Add New Hardware Wizard". Getting Started - Remove all the PC Cards with the system off. - Start up your system and Windows 98 - Insert the AMB8110 PC Card into a PCMCIA Slot. - An "Update Device Driver Wizard" window will be displayed, click "Next" to continue. - The AMB8110 driver location information is displayed in the "Update Device Driver Wizard" window. Click "Finish" to continue. - The "Update Device Driver Wizard" continues to copy the network related files into the system until it displays the message "The file 'amb8110.inf' on Windows 95 CD-ROM could not be found" in the Copy files window. - Enter "A:\" to instruct the "Update Device Driver Wizard" to copy the AMB8110 driver from the installation diskette, and then click "OK" to finish the installation. - Reboot the machine to start the network. Note: The Window 95-OSR2 AMB8110 installation will add Netware and Microsoft network support automatically if the Windows 95-OSR2 have installed the Network Protocol. Any network support can be adjusted by the Network Support in the Control Panel. 5. Installation for Microsoft Windows 95 (4.00.950, 4.00.950A) =========================================================== 1. Introduction Windows 95 provides a complete "Plug and Play" System that will automatically recognize and configure the AMB8110. Please have the Windows 95 CD ready if Windows 95 system was not pre-installed on your Notebook PC. 2. Getting Started - Remove all the PC Cards with the system off. - Start up your system and Windows 98 - Insert the AMB8110 PC Card into a PCMCIA Slot. The "New Hardware Found" window will be shown on the screen. - Select Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer, and click "OK" button. - Insert the AMB8110 User Installation/Diagnostics diskette after the "Install From Disk" window appears,. - Type in "A:\" or "A:\WIN9X" in the "Install From Disk" window, and click "OK" to continue. - Select the "AmbiCom 10/100 Fast Ethernet PC Card (AMB8110)" entry in the Select Device window and then click "OK" to continue. - Follow the instructions to complete the installation. - Click "Yes" in the System Setting Change window to reboot your system. 6. Installation for Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 ========================================= 1. Introduction The following installation does require a basic knowledge of the NT environment. 2. Getting Started for Windows NT 4.0 - Please make sure your Notebook supports PCMCIA Cards in NT 4.0. If it is not supported, contact your notebook manufacturer immediately. - Remove all PC Cards from the system. - Insert the AMB8110 PC Card into a PCMCIA Slot. - Start up your system and Windows NT 4.0. - Double-click the Network icon in the Control Panel window. - From the Network Settings window, select the Adapters tab and click Add. - Click Have Disk from the Select Network Adapter dialog and click OK. - From the Select OEM Option window, highlight AmbiCom 10/100 Fast Ethernet PC Card (AMB8110) and click OK.. - Select the "AmbiCom 10/100 Fast Ethernet PC Card (AMB8110)" from the dialog box and press OK to continue. - The AmbiCom 10/100 Fast Ethernet PC Card (AMB8110) Network Settings dialog will be displayed. Click OK to accept the default network's resource settings or make necessary changes to avoid resource conflict. - Add the required Network protocol(s) and Services. - Restart your computer. 7. Installation for DOS ODI Driver =============================== 1. For those who installed EMM386.EXE in your config.sys, please reserve 4K memory address from your system. The AMB8110 PC Card enabler program will use this space to read Ethernet ID and CIS from on-board flash memory. [Example] DEVICE=EMM386.EXE NOEMS X=D000-DFFF 2. User need to add "LASTDRIVE=[Device Name]" in the Config.sys file, then reboot Notebook. Example, if you want to login to Device "N", the string is "LASTDRIVE=M". 3. Enable the AMB8110 PC Card The PCENAB.EXE is a PCMCIA controller enabling program. This enable program is only needed for DOS and Windows 3.1 systems. You don't need to install the Socket and Card service in your Notebook before executing the enabler. In DOS command window, go to "\NWCLIENT", then type "PCENAB -ix -bxxx" * i - system interrupt number required for the FastEthernet card in decimal format. * b - card's I/O port address assignment in HEX format. The default syntax is "PCENAB -i10 -b300". 4. Getting Started the Novell DOS ODI Driver: This directory "\NWCLIENT" contains the AMB8110 DOS ODI driver. You need the following files to install the DOS ODI DRIVER. a. LSL.COM: supplied by Novell b. AMB8110.COM: DOS ODI driver, supplied by AmbiCom c. NET.CFG: configuration files, supplied by AmbiCom d. IPXODI.COM: supplied by Novell e. VLM files, supplied by Novell Type "STARTNET" at the DOS prompt to execute the files above, then you should be able to login to the file server. 8. Installation for CLIENT32 Driver ================================ 1. If you have completely installed the Netware Client 32 for DOS, all you have to do is to modify STARTNET.BAT. Please see the sample STARTNET.BAT above. If not, Please follow the next step 2 to step 7. 2. Run INSTALL.EXE from Netware Client 32 for DOS diskette 1 (or from Netware 4.11 CD). When the product manual appears, mark the "Netware Client 32 for DOS" item, then press <Enter>. 3. Select "OTHER DRIVERS" item from "32-bit Network Board Drivers" menu, then press <Enter>. 4. Insert AMB8110 Driver Diskette, then specify the driver path A: or B: 5. Select "AmbiCom 10/100 Fast Ethernet PC Card (AMB8110)", then press <Enter>. 6. Use the following instructions to complete the Client32 for DOS software installation. 7. Reboot your system. Configuring LAN Adapter's Media Type: ------------------------------------ The keyword "NWAY" is provided for LAN adapter to auto detect the speed and the duplex mode. For example: LOAD C:\NOVELL\CLIENT32\AMB8110.LAN NWAY The keyword "S100" is provided for the user to force the media to 100BASE-TX HALF DUPLEX mode. For example: LOAD C:\NOVELL\CLIENT32\AMB8110.LAN S100 The keyword "S10" is provided for the user to force the media to 10BASE-T HALF DUPLEX mode. For example: LOAD C:\NOVELL\CLIENT32\AMB8110.LAN S10 Installing Multiple LAN Adapters: --------------------------------- The keyword "SLOT" is provided for multiple LAN adapters in a single server by the driver AMB8110.LAN. So, add "SLOT" in LOAD commands. Used for diskless booting -n -- NetWare conversion. Converts 802.3 packets into 8137 packets -w -- Windows hack, obsoleted by winpkt -p -- Promiscuous mode disable -a -- Auto-Negotiation Mode -1 -- Line Speed 10M, Half Duplex Mode -2 -- Line Speed 100M, Half Duplex Mode -u -- Uninstall <PACKET_INT_NO> This specifies the software interrupt (IRQ) where you'll load the packet driver. It must be in the range 0x60 to 0x80. [IRQ] This specifies the hardware interrupt (IRQ) where your card will be indicated. [IO_BASE] This specifies the I/O address . Example: The following command line loads the AMB8110 Packet Driver at software interrupt 60h, at I/O address 300, at hardware interrupt 10. "AMB8110P 0x60 0x0A 0x300" Type "START" at the DOS, this will execute the PCENAB.EXE and AMB8110P.COM, the IRQ and I/O address must be the same. 10. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
