This package is backward compatible with previous release version (R82.00.00) ----------------------- 4.2 General Operation : ----------------------- 4.2.1 Do not eject the iM1100 Wireless Modem while a session is established. Some application programs may become unstable when the modem is ejected in mid-operation. 4.2.2 Before you eject the iM1100 Wireless Modem from the PCMCIA slot, it is recommended to turn it off (by clicking the iM1100 Wireless Modem Software icon in the system tray and selecting the option to turn off the card.) A Windows warning message occurs if the modem is ejected without being stopped. 4.2.3 The administration access rights are required to install the software on Windows NT/2000 machines. Contact your IT department if you do not have rights or unsure. 4.2.4 Check that the SIM card is inserted in the correct position and properly seated on the back side of the iM1100 Wireless Modem prior to using the modem. The SIM card should be Packet Data enabled and possibly Circuit Data enabled if you plan to use a dedicated connection. 4.2.5 Remove the CD when the Installation is complete. 4.2.6 The default baud rate should be set to 19200 bps. ------------------- 4.3 Windows 95/98 : ------------------- 4.3.1 After removing the iM1100 Wireless Modem in Windows 98, you will need to reboot the computer so that the Windows registry is refreshed correctly. 4.3.2 Sometimes the Dial-Up Networking folder does not refresh correctly and does not show a newly created "iM1100 Wireless Modem" connection. Close and open the folder to refresh the list of connections. 4.3.3 In Windows 95 & 98, sometimes the "Dial-Up Adapter" may not be present in the Control Panel's "Network" Tab. If you re-install the Dial-Up Networking component of Windows, it will be automatically installed. 4.3.4 The "TCP/IP" protocol may become corrupted and will require installation using the "Network" Control Panel applet (This is a known bug with Windows). 4.3.5 In Windows 98, if you start a connection using a Windows' Dial-Up networking connection directly, and if the iM1100 Wireless iDEN Modem is NOT physically attached to the computer, the COM port will remain open (this will not allow the status program to connect to the network). To fix it reboot your system (This is a known bug with Windows). 4.3.6 For Windows 95 systems, Dial-Up Networking version 1.3 or newer is required. In addition Socket 2 has to be installed. You may obtain the updated software via the Microsoft web site. 4.3.7 If your computer has a network card, you will need to add at least one DNS IP address to the "TCP/IP" protocol properties. In this case the DNS IPs obtained from Dial-Up Networking are ignored by the TCP/IP Stack. In Windows 95/98 you can use the "winipcfg" tool to check for the DNS Servers used by your TCP/IP stack. 4.3.8 When using Windows 98 during a warm boot, it is possible that no network login screen will appear (This is an intermittent occurrence). ---------------- 4.4 Windows NT : ---------------- 4.4.1 A third-party Plug and Play enabler is recommended for the iM1100 Wireless Modem to work on a Windows NT host computer. Contact your local IT support if you require help with CardWizard interaction. - Verify that TCP/IP Protocol and Dial-Up networking are installed on your computer before installation. 4.4.2 You should insert the iM1100 Wireless Modem before running the setup program. To do this, remove any PC cards inserted in the computer, reboot the machine with the iM1100 Wireless Modem inserted in the PCMCIA port not being used (ensure that no other PC card is inserted). The Card wizard will show the new modem detected. 4.4.3 Insert the installation CD. Select "Don't detect my modem; I will select it from a list " and click "Next". 4.4.4 On the next screen, click "Have Disk". 4.4.5 Click on the file iM1100.inf from the CD. The wizard should then detect the modem. Select the COM port and continue. The hardware wizard Window displays that the modem has been successfully set up. Click Finish. Close the Wizard Window. 4.4.6 On the Network window which pops up select Remote Access Service and click on "properties". 4.4.7 Add RAS Device, select "Motorola iM1100 Wireless Modem" from the menu and click "ok". 4.4.8 The Network window is then re-displayed and Remote Access Services should be listed.
