Description:
The 3Dlabs Wildcat PRO Display Driver provides support for accelerated
high-resolution, true color graphics using OpenGL.
This driver supports multi-frequency video monitors, including DDC capable
Monitors.
This driver supports the following languages: English, French, German,
Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, and Traditional Chinese. If
the currently installed Windows NT language is not one of the above choices,
the installation will default to English.
This release of the Wildcat PRO Display Driver will only install and run
on systems running Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 5 (or later).
NOTE: If you have Service Pack 4 and the Intel Streaming SIMD extensions
installed, and upgrade to Service Pack 5 or later, you must uninstall
the Streaming SIMD extensions before installing the service pack.

Installation Help
=================
This driver will not run on any machine that does not have PCI backplane
hardware. The Wildcat Pro Display driver will work with both AGP and
AGP Pro versions of the Wildcat Display adapter.
See MANIFEST.TXT for a list of delivered files.
Please refer to the installation documentation provided with the media
supplied with your system.
If you are installing an updated driver from the 3Dlabs web site,
please do the following:
1. Save the self-extracting .zip file to a temporary directory on the
system hard drive.
2. Double-click the self-extracting zip file to unzip the driver files.
The extracted drivers files are compressed and will be expanded as
they are installed using Windows NT 4.0 Setup.
WINDOWS NT 4.0 SETUP - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!
---------------------------------------------
All previous versions of the display driver labeled,
"Intergraph Display Driver", "Intense3D Display Driver",
"Intense3D Intense4kDrv Display Driver", "Intense Wildcat Driver",
"3Dlabs Wildcat Driver", and "Wildcat Driver"
should be uninstalled prior to loading the "3Dlabs Wildcat PRO Display
Driver". See the Uninstall Help section for step-by-step instructions on
uninstalling these drivers.
To install the 3Dlabs Wildcat PRO Display Driver:
1. Log into the system using an account that has Administrator privileges.
2. From the operating system Start menu, go to Settings/Control Panel and
double-click Display to activate the Display Properties dialog.
3. Click the Settings tab.
4. Click the Display Type button to activate the Display Type dialog.
5. Click the Change button to activate the Change Display dialog.
6. Click the Have Disk button to activate the Install From Disk dialog.
7. Clear the default path, A:\, and click Browse to activate
the Locate File dialog. Using the Locate File dialog, find the
directory that contains the extracted driver files. Locate and select
the file, oemsetup.inf, in the disk1 sub-directory and click Open.
The Locate File dialog will dismiss and the Install From Disk dialog
will become active. Select OK in the Install From Disk dialog.
8. Another dialog labeled Change Display will appear listing the title of
the driver to be installed. Verify that 3Dlabs Wildcat PRO is
highlighted and click OK.
9. A dialog labeled "Third-party Drivers" will appear prompting you to
proceed with the installation of a third-party driver. Click YES.
10. During the installation, a dialog labeled "Files Needed" will appear
and indicate that an additional file is needed. The default path
will be the same as the path selected in step 7.
11. Click Browse and locate the disk2 sub-directory. Select the needed
file and click Open. Then click OK in the Files Needed dialog.
12. A dialog box labeled Installing Driver should appear indicating that
the drivers were successfully installed. Click OK.
13. Click Close in the Display Type dialog.
14. Click Close in the Display Properties dialog.
15. A final dialog will appear and state the system settings have been
changed and that you must restart your computer in order for the new
settings to take effect.
Click Yes in order to reboot the system.
16. The Wildcat PRO Display Driver will be loaded during system boot and
display at the 640 x 480 resolution. However, if an earlier version
of the Intense3D or 3Dlabs Wildcat Driver was previously installed, the
resolution will be the last one selected with that driver. After logging
on again, the resolution can be changed in the Display Properties dialog.
17. Following the system shutdown and subsequent logon, a dialog will
appear stating that the current settings are invalid. This dialog
appears the first time you logon after you have changed the display
driver. Click OK and configure the display settings to meet your
requirements.
Automated Installation Help
===========================
NOTE: Make sure you have Windows NT Administrator privileges and write
permission on the target machine, as the automated installation
will create temporary directories on its hard drive.
1. Create an installation directory on your hard drive and then copy
all installation files into that directory. You may either create
a directory structure having a disk1, disk2 format, or copy all files
from disk1 and disk2 into the same directory.
NOTE: Do not copy files from disk3 or disk4 into the directory. Disk3 and
disk4 contain the Heidi(r) and 3D Studio Max(r) driver installations,
respectively.
2. Modify the setup.ini file to meet your specifications.
3. Run setup.exe.
4. Reboot the system.
Unattended Installation Help
============================
Unattended installation allows you to install the driver as part of a
Windows NT 4.0 installation with no end user interaction. These
instructions assume a working knowledge of Windows NT 4.0 unattended
installations.
The 3Dlabs Wildcat requires Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 5 or higher.
For the unattended installation to work properly with the 3Dlabs
Wildcat, you must replace the HAL files at your distribution point
with HAL files from Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 5. These files include
halmps.dll, halapic.dll, and halmpsm.dll.
WINDOWS NT 4.0 UNATTENDED INSTALLATION
--------------------------------------
1. Add the following entries to the unattended.txt file:

NOTE: BitsPerPel, XResolution, YResolution, and VRefresh are all variable.
These values can be set to any valid Display Driver setting.
NOTE: InfOption is variable. It has a matching value in the
oemsetup.inf file. This matching value can be found under
[Wildcat.Mfg] on the left side of the = sign. These two
values must match exactly.
2. Copy all display driver files to the $OEM$\DISPLAY folder of the
distribution point. Any files on multiple installation disks
should be copied to this folder.
Uninstall Help
==============
To uninstall this version of the 3DLabs Wildcat PRO Display Driver,
use the Add/Remove Programs Properties utility in the Control Panel.
WINDOWS NT 4.0 UNINSTALL
------------------------
1. From the operating system Start menu, go to Settings/Control Panel
and double-click Add/Remove Programs.
2. On the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog, select "Wildcat Display
Driver" from the list of available programs, and click Add/Remove to
uninstall the existing driver.
3. A dialog will appear which describes the function of the 3Dlabs
Display Driver uninstall program. You will be prompted to verify
the removal of the Display Driver. Click Yes to complete the driver
removal.
Screen Resolution and Refresh Rate Table
========================================
To access the list of available screen resolutions and refresh rates,
select the "List All Modes..." button on the "Settings" page of the Display
Properties page.
1. From the operating system Start menu, go to Settings/Control Panel
and double-click Display.
2. From the Display Properties dialog, click the Settings tab.
3. Click "List All Modes..." to access the table of
supported screen resolutions and refresh rates.
Monitor Selection
=================
The "Wildcat Monitor" page in Display Properties must be used to
change the monitor type.
1. From the operating system Start menu, go to Settings/Control Panel and
double-click Display.
2. On the Display Properties dialog, click the Wildcat Monitor tab.
3. Click the "Configure Monitor" button.
The "Configure Monitor" dialog will be displayed.
4. Select one of the three monitor types: Generic, Plug-and-Play, or Vendor.
Selection of one of these three monitor types will potentially alter the
list of resolutions reported in the "Available Resolutions" field.
- The Generic monitor type will provide a list of generic resolutions.
- The Plug-and-Play monitor type will provide a list of the resolutions
supported by the monitor plugged into the system if the monitor is
Plug-and-Play capable.
- The Vendor monitor selection allows you to choose a specific monitor
from the provided list of monitors.
Once you have chosen a monitor, the resolution and refresh rate nearest
to the current settings will be highlighted.
5. Select a resolution from the list of Available Resolutions.
6. Click OK to accept the new monitor, resolution, and refresh settings.
A dialog box will display inquiring whether you wish to keep the new
settings. If you select Yes, the settings will be changed and the
Configure Monitor dialog will be dismissed. If you select No, the
settings will revert to previous settings.
Display Modes
=============
The Wildcat Monitor page in Display Properties may be used to
change display modes.
1. Choose the Display icon in the Control Panel.
2. Click the Wildcat Monitor tab.
3. Click Configure Monitor. The Configure Monitor
dialog will be displayed.
4. Select a display mode from the Display Modes pull-down.
5. Select a resolution from the Available Resolutions list.
6. Click OK to accept the new display mode.
Configuration
=============
The "Wildcat Configuration" page in Display Properties must be used to
change the driver configuration.
The Synchronize Buffer Swap to Vertical Sync check box on the Wildcat
Configuration tab is checked by default. This provides the highest visual
quality. To obtain higher frame rate performance for benchmarking purposes,
clear this check box so that the display is not synchronized to vertical sync.
When this option is not checked, you may experience certain screen artifacts
such as tearing; however, this box should generally be unchecked for performance
benchmarking.
Click Config Wizard on the Wildcat Configuration tab to activate a
step-by-step interface that will allow you to modify your current display
configuration or create a new one. In the Wildcat Configuration Wizard, click
Next and follow the prompts to create a new configuration, or modify or delete
an existing one.
The default bitplane mode is 96; some resolutions are available only in 96
bitplane mode.
Context-Sensitive Help
======================
Context-sensitive help is provided for 3Dlabs Wildcat dialogs in the Display
properties applet. The only exception to this is the Configuration Wizard,
which provides detailed instructions for each step. Context-sensitive help
for a particular control is accessible using three different methods.
- Click the question mark located on the title bar of the active dialog.
The cursor will change to the help select cursor. Next, click
on the control for which you wish to receive help.
- Right-click the control for which you wish to receive help.
- Set the focus on the control for which you wish to receive help and press F1.
Any of these methods will display a small box filled with text that provides
information on the control you have chosen.

Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
