Install Winmodem x2 modem on Windows NT 4.0
===========================================

I) Plug n Play Installation:

WARNING : (1) Please remove all previously installed Winmodem driver 
	      before you install.  

	  (2) Please make sure the following registry key is removed.
		 \HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\
			{124E56E1-D080-11d0-B059-00207810F461}

	  (3) Make sure the Microsoft pnpisa.sys driver is installed

  1) Reboot Microsoft Widows NT 4.0 and log on your computer with 
     Administrator privileges.
     
  2) You will see "New Hardware Found" and then be prompted to install 
     drivers 

  3) Choose "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer".  You
     will be prompted for the path of the disk
     
  4) Insert the "Winmodem x2 Modem Driver" diskette into A: drive, and
     enter A:\     

  5) Select "Winmodem with x2" and click OK

  6) Next a property page with the modem resource configuration pops up.
     Review these settings and change them if you know that they will be 
     conflict with other devices.  Select OK when finished.

  7) Restart when prompted.


II) Without Plug n Play support:

  1) Boot into Microsoft Widows NT 4.0, Insert the Winmodem diskette. 
     Run A:\Setup.exe

  2) Click Install. A pop-up dialog box displays the name of the drivers 
     being copied: i.e. Winmodem.SY_ and Winmodem.CP_. 

  3) Select the COM port, IRQ and I/O Base Address from the pop-up applet. 

  4) Click OK to restart the system.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
