Windows 98 installation: ***NOTE: Before starting, copy the file to a formatted diskette and expand the file, if necessary. Label the diskette with the file name and version number for future reference.*** Note: Make sure to follow the instructions completely. If reinstalling the drivers, make sure to uninstall the previous drivers completely before attempting this installation. 1.When the system is rebooted, Windows will detect the modem. Click Next to proceed. 2.The installation wizard asks what option to pursue. Select Search for the best driver for your device and click Next. 3.The next windows will search the hard drive and whatever device is checked for the device drivers. Insert the driver diskette into the floppy drive! Make sure that the box is checked for floppy disk drives and click Next. 4.Windows searches for the drivers. Note: If the following screen displays, check to see if the driver diskette was inserted into the floppy drive. If the diskette WAS INSERTED, additional floppy drive troubleshooting may be necessary. If the floppy WAS NOT inserted before continuing, insert the floppy and click BACK to restart the search for the appropriate drivers. 5.Windows has found the appropriate driver. Click Next to continue with the installation. 6.The files are copied to the hard drive. 7.The wizard is finished installing the necessary software. Click Finish to return to the main desktop. Windows 98 Uninstall Procedure: 1.Go to Start | Settings | Control Panel and double-click Modems. 2.Highlight Telepath Internet 56K WinModem and click Remove. There will be no confirmation question when Remove is clicked. 3.Once the Telepath information is removed, click Close. 4.Insert the driver diskette into the floppy drive, go to Start | Run and type in A:\Ltremove and click OK. This will remove the driver files and registry entry. Note: If a screen displays, the diskette has not been inserted into the floppy drive or is not being read. Check to make sure the right driver floppy is installed into the appropriate drive. 5.The uninstall program will warn that the files are about to be removed. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
