        HP VISUALIZE fx2+, fx4+, fx6+ OpenGL Graphics Accelerator Board
               (HP Visualize Personal Workstation - WinNT 4.0)

    Installation Procedure

      1. From the Start menu, click "Settings" then "Control Panel"
      2. Double-click the "Display" icon
      3. Click the "Settings" tab, then "Display Type", then "Change"
      4. Click the "Have Disk..." button. In the box "Copy manufacturer's
         files from:", enter the directory where you decompressed the
         files.  You can use the browse button to help locate this
         directory. Click "OK"
      5. Highlight the "Hewlett-Packard Visualize fx Video" display type
         and click "OK"
      6. Click "Yes" in the following window (about third party driver) to
         proceed. Click "OK" in the next window (drivers successfully
         installed)
      7. Close the "Display Type" and "Display Properties" windows
      8. Click "Yes" when asked if you want to restart your computer.

    If you need to uninstall the driver, run hpvisxun.exe (located in the
    directory where you decompressed visfx.exe in step 2).



    Checking the presence of the texture module

    If the texture module accessory is installed on the Visualize fx
    graphics board, it will be automatically detected by the driver. There
    are no additional steps required to configure the texture module.

    However, to check that the texture module has been detected:

      1. From the Start menu, click "Settings" then "Control Panel".
      2. Double-click the "Display" icon, and select the "About" tab.
      3. The texture module has been correctly installed if the line
         "Hardware Texture Mapping : Installed" is seen.



    Driver Configuration

    You should optimize the driver settings to suit the OpenGL application
    that you are using on your system. This can be done through the driver
    applet which is installed automatically with the driver.

      1. From the Start menu, click "Settings" then "Control Panel".
      2. Double-click the "Display" icon, and select the "Options" tab.
      3. Select your application in the "Application" list box. Driver
         settings (viewed on the right) will be configured to best suit
         this application. If the application you are using is not listed,
         select "Compatibility Mode".
      4. Click the "Apply" button, then "OK".

    For explanations of each setting, click on the question mark (?) in the
    upper right hand corner of the window and then click on the option for
    which you want to see an explantion.

    Visualize Diagnostics

    A diagnostics utility is available on the HP visualize Support website
    for use on the HP Visualize fx graphics board.

    This utility is available:

       * Preloaded on the hard disk of your PC Workstation click Start,
         Programs, HP Visualize Diagnostics)
       * Supplied on the HP Driver CD-ROM
       * Available from the HP visualize support website

    If you suspect that your board may have a fault, you can use this
    utility to run a thorough hardware test. Further details are available
    in the Configuration and Troubleshooting Guide, mentioned above.



    3D StudioMAX Driver

    Copy the hpoglgfx.drv file to the 3D StudioMAX home directory. (This
    should be the same directory as the oglgfx.drv file).

    Start 3D StudioMAX, and select the Customize->Preferences menu item.
    Select the Viewports tab, and select the Choose Driver button in the
    lower right corner. Next to the Custom button, you should see a drop
    down selector.  Select the hpoglgfx.drv custom driver. You will then
    need to restart 3D StudioMAX.

    Alternatively, you can start 3D StudioMAX with the -h option. That will
    take you directly to the driver Setup dialog.
