Double click on that file. 4. Click on the 'UNZIP' button. Click 'OK' when the files have been uncompressed. Installation Procedure 1. Right click on the 'My Computer' icon, and select 'Properties'. 2. Click on the 'Hardware' tab, and select the 'Device Manager' button. 3. Click on the 'Display Adapters' icon, and double click on 'Hewlett-Packard Visualize fx Series Video'. NOTE: if this is the first time the driver is being installed, you will need to click on the 'Other Devices' icon and double click on 'Video Controller'. 4. Select the 'Driver' tab and then the 'Update Driver' button. 5. Click the 'Next' button and select 'Display a list of known drivers for this device' and click 'Next' 6. Double click on the 'Display Adapters' device type. 7. Click the 'Have Disk' button and browse to the directory that contains the Visualize driver uncompressed in step 4 of the Download and Extraction Procedure. 8. Click on the hpvfxxnt.inf file 9. Finish installing the driver. If you need to uninstall the driver, run hpvfxxun.exe (located in the directory where you decompressed visfx.exe in step 2). Setting the FX Hardware to be Primary After installing the driver for the first time, you'll need to extend the desktop to the Visualize fx device and make it the primary adapter. Since the Cirrus Logic device is not usable while the Visualize fx is installed, you'll not want the desktop extended to it. 1. Right click on the desktop and select the 'Properties' menu item 2. Select the 'Settings' tab. There will be two monitors shown. Display 1 is the Visualize fx and Display 2 is the Cirrus Logic. 3. Select the Visualize fx device (Display 1). Check 'Extend my Windows desktop onto the monitor' and 'Use this device as the primary monitor' 4. Select the Cirrus Logic device (Display2). Uncheck 'Extend my Windows desktop onto the monitor' 5. Click the apply button Disable mouse pointer shadows The default Windows 2000 mouse pointer may cause performance problems when the pointer is placed in an OpenGL window. To avoid these problems: 1. Start the Control Panel: Click Start, point to Settings and select Control Panel. 2. Double-click on Mouse and click the Pointers tab. 3. Uncheck 'Enable pointer shadow'. Checking the presence of the texture module If the texture module accessory is installed on the Visualize fx graphics board, it will be automatically detected by the driver. There are no additional steps required to configure the texture module. However, to check that the texture module has been detected: 1. From the Start menu, click 'Settings' then 'Control Panel'. 2. Double-click the 'Display' icon, click on the 'Advanced' button and select the 'About' tab. 3. The texture module has been correctly installed if the line "Hardware Texture Mapping : Installed" is displayed. Driver Configuration You should optimize the driver settings to suit the OpenGL application that you are using on your system. This can be done through the driver applet which is installed automatically with the driver. 1. From the Start menu, click 'Settings' then 'Control Panel'. 2. Double-click the 'Display' icon, click on the 'Advanced' button and select the 'Options' tab. 3. Select your application in the 'Application' list box. Driver settings (viewed on the right) will be configured to best suit this application. If the application you are using is not listed, select 'Compatibility Mode'. 4. Click the 'Apply' button, then click 'OK'. For explanations of each setting, click on the question mark (?) in the upper right hand corner of the window and then click on the option for which you want to see an explantion.
