Installation and Configuration

The process of installation and/or update is quite simple
You must run the installer in order to open the installation wizard.
Once inside, passed the welcome screen and language selection, you can choose to install, to
reconfigure or to uninstall the driver. The first two options have a similar behavior, with
the difference that second is faster but only works when the lastest NTPAD version is installed.
The last simply uninstalls the driver.
Once chosen the installation option you go to the selection screen.
There you must choose the amount of pads to use, then the type, ID and port of each one.
The ID corresponds to the number of joystick according to the used interface (ie: First joystick
of the PSX interface is ID 1, the second is ID 2, etc.) The port corresponds with the number
of paralll port to use. Normally it is LPT1 (0x378) nevertheless this can vary.
Typically, the port numbers are the following ones:

Port Number
LPT1 0x378

Also exits the possibility that the port number does not correspond with any of these, this
occurs generally when PCI cards with additional parallel ports are used.
In order to find out the port number, you have to go to the device manager, ask for the port's
properties and look for the first I/O line (if thare is more than one) in the Resources tab.
The first number of the range of that line is the one that you have to specify in the installer.

After the configuration, the driver intallation starts. During this process it is important to
ACCEPT any warning about driver signs, as well as choosing the automatic search of drivers
option whenever appears the new hardware wizard. Once installed driver, joysticks are in
conditions of being used, nevertheless, is recommendable to first configure each one. In order
to configure a joystick, you have to go to Game Devices in the Control Panel and ask for the
properties of "NTPAD with ForceFeedback".
The properties screen consists of 5 tabs:

Main

Simply it is a control screen to verify the operation of joystick.

Mapping
This tab allows you the change in the interpretation of the joystick's buttons.
In order to change a button, it is enough with pushing it in the joystick (it witness gets
"illuminated"), and keep it pressed while you click in the new number to use in the row of
buttons of the right. The change will be indicated at the right of the witness of the button.
In order to make the changes to have effect, you must press "Apply", otherwise they will not
be keeped. If you press Reset all the buttons will return to their default mapping.

ForceFeedback
Here the correct operation of the motors can be proved.
There are two ways, choosing an effect of the list and proving it in order to feel it, or
directly using the under controls to adjust the force level applied in the motors.

Configuration
The name says everything :-).
Desisable axes mapping: It makes the digital pad to use their axes like buttons.
Allways use analog stick: It allways keeps the Dualshock in analog mode.
Enable Dualshock2 analog buttons: It make some buttons (the ones mapped as Analog 1 to 4) act
like axes using their pressure level as data.
Axes mapping : It allows you to freely choose how the joystick's axes are interpreted as
DirectInput's axes.
Dead Zone: It is the percentage of movement from the center that is still interpreted like the
exact center. A 10% for example, indicate that if the stick is moved beetween 10% more or 10%
less than the center, is continued considered like centered. Very usefull when the sticks get
older.
Scan Delay: It is the time of joystick, 4 is the recommended thing, nevertheless some PC
executes this too fast and is necessary to increase the value.
Scanning modes : In the case of "better response" the variation is not much, but the reading
is constant which can improve a little the fidelity of the button data (and also to lower the
FPS)
