Chapter 1 General introduction

1.1 Introduction:

       The SysOn GPS CF Plus is a CF type serial communication
    card for notebook computers and other computers with a PCMCIA
    slot.  The SysOn GPS CF Plus offers serial interface ports. This
    enables notebook computers to receive GPS data.  This
    serial ports are implemented with 16C550 UART. 



Chapter 2   Installation


2.1 SysOn GPS CF Plus card installation:

    1. Turn-off the notebook computer power, and locate the notebook's
       PCMCIA slot. Although PCMCIA systems allow "hot insertion",
       installing of the card while the computer is running. But
       not every Notebook computer was implement this feature, check
       the user's manual for your notebook. If you are in doubt,
       turn the power off first.
    2. You must insert SysOn GPS CF Plus to PCMCIA adapter
       (PCMCIA adaptor is optional).
    2. Align the SysOn GPS CF Plus with the arrow facing up and
       pointing towards the computer's PCMCIA slot.
    3. Slowly insert the card in the slot.  When you insert the card, be sure 
        that the top side is up.
    4. You will see the "Add New Hardware Wizard".


2.2 Driver installation and configuration:

    1. Windows 2000/XP:

 	(1)  You will see the "Found New Hardware"
 	(2)  Click "Next" on install wizard
 	(3)  Select "Display a list of the known drivers...."
 	(4)  Press "Next"
 	(5)  Click on "Ports (Com & LPT)"
 	(6)  Press "Next"
 	(7)  Select under Manufacturers: "(Standard port types)",under Models: "Communications Port"
 	(8)  Press "Next"
	(9)  On Update Driver Warning dialog box, press "Yes".
	(10)  Press "Next" on found New Hardware wizard.
	(11)  Press "Finish".

<Note>

    To determine serial port number:
	1. Start>Settings>Control Panel>System>Hardware (tab)>Device Manager
	2. Select "Ports (Com & LPT)
	3. Note number next to Communications Port (such as Com5) 

    Changing Port Number within Device Manager:

	1. Start>Settings>Control Panel>System>Hardware (tab)>Device Manager
	2. Select "Ports (Com & LPT)
	3. Note number next to Communications Port (such as Com5)
	4. Select Properties>Advance>
	5. Reselect Com Port Number. If port shown as in use and you know that is not then select it anyway
	6. Click OK

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
