README SUPPLEMENT FOR PS DRIVERS -------------------------------------------------------------------- SUPPORTED MODELS -------------------------------------------------------------------- - Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista Printer Unit Type80 RCP80 -------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE -------------------------------------------------------------------- - Installing the printer driver in Windows 2000/XP/Server2003/Vista Refer to "Printer Reference" for the details of installation in other operation system. 1.Click [Start] on the taskbar, point to [Settings], and then click [Printers(Printers and Faxes)]. Double-click the [Add Printer] icon. [Add Printer Wizard] starts. 2.Click [Local Printer], and then click [Next]. 3.Select the port you want to use, and then click [Next]. 4.Click [Have Disk]. The Install From Disk dialog box is displayed. In the Install From Disk dialog box, type the letter for the driver which contains the installation diskette and click [OK]. 5.Select the model of the printer you are using, and then click [Next]. 6.Follow the instructions on the screen. If the [Digital Signature Not Found(Hardware Installation)] dialog box appears, click [Yes(Continue Anyway)], and continue the installation. - Additional information 1. Note for HP LJ8100 users. The older Hewlett Packard LaserJet 8100 PCL 6 driver may interfere with the PostScript driver. To avoid this problem use LaserJet 8100 PCL6 driver V4.3.2.38 or later. 2. Collation When printing multiple copies, turn off collation in the application and turn "Collate" on, on the "DeviceOption" tab. With some applications, collation may significantly slow down your computer. And, some functions may not work correctly. 3. Collation (Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista) Though "Collated" check box becomes available after setting multiple numbers of copies by "Copy Count:" in "Advanced Options" dialog, be sure to set "Collated" check box OFF in performing printing. Collate function must be set by "Document Options" - "Printer Features"- "Collate" in "Advanced Options" dialog. 4. Printing from NetScape4.7 (Macintosh) In Printing with NetScape 4.7, it may cause gridlock and the termination of the application in use. If you use NetScape, be sure to use NetScape 6 or later. 5. MS Word98 document with mixed orientation. (Macintosh) Printing of Macintosh MS Word98 document with mixed paper orientation may produce unexpected result if multiple copies, staple, or duplex is selected. 6. Printing from PageMaker (Macintosh) When printing a document from Macintosh PageMaker, the printer may show "Load Letter" on the operation panel and wait for letter paper. In order to avoid this wait, set letter paper in one of the input tray, or turn off Macintosh "Background Print". (Note you have to turn off "Background Print" from the Finder.) 7. Watermark and QuarkXpress 4.1 (Windows 95/98/Me, Macintosh) QuarkXpress 4.1 document may not be printed as expected if Watermark is selected. 8. Custom Size Setup (Windows NT4.0/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista) Warning dialog may be displayed even though entering the values within maximum and minimum available values for custom size specified in custom size setup dialog. In this case, please reduce the values to be less than the entered values even if they are within the available range. 9. Printing Custom Size Document from MS-Word (Windows NT4.0/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista) When printing MS Word document using Custom Size, the document may not as expected. 10. Printing Custom Size Document from Acrobat (Windows 95/98/Me) Neither Acrobat 5 nor Acrobat Reader 5 can not use "Other Custom Paper". Use other custom size selection. 11. Data Format (Windows 95/98/Me/NT4.0/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista) Be sure to select "ASCII" to perform "Data format"(Windows 9x) or "Output Protocol"(Windows NT4/2000/XP). If set to "BCP" or "Binary" to perform above operation, it may cause PS error or incorrect setting of numbers of copies. 12. Custom Size setting (MacOSX Classic Mode) If click "OK"button without naming Custom Size newly created on MacOSX Classic Mode, application may be terminated. When set Custom Size on MacOSX Classic Mode, be sure to enter the newly created Custom Size name before click "OK" button. 13. Printing from PageMaker (Macintosh) If print with "User Code" with the application except PageMaker and print with PageMaker after that, the previous setting of "User Code" is succeeded to the next printing with PageMaker. 14.Form To Tray Assignment (Windows NT4/2000/XP/Server2003/Vista) Do not select "Form To Tray Assignment" item in "Device setting" tab. 15. Page Layout (N-up) function (Windows NT4.0) Page Layout (N-up) function does not work with MS-Word2002. 16. Disorder when pressing "Stop"button in using MacOSX Classic Mode (Macintosh) If stop printing with "Stop" button in using the printer with MacOSX Classic Mode, sometimes printer freezes with "Waiting..." status.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
