RME Intelligent Audio Solutions DIGI96 Series 24 Bit PCI Digital In/Out Card Drivers for Windows 95/98/98SE/ME Important information: Driver Update 4.96 New: Automatic sample rate change for AEBx-I when starting record SPDIF Out can be used with DVD software player (see mme_new.txt) Important information on Gigasampler operation: Please note that the DIGI96 series requires identical formats when used in multi-client operation! All programs simultaneously accessing the DIGI MUST use the same sample rate and bit resolution! Otherwise de-tuned sound or no sound at all will be heared. Also it is not possible to use the same channels with different programs simultaneously. If for example Cubase is used with ASIO on channels 1/2 (default in Cubase, master bus), this output pair can not be used in Gigasampler. Please note that in case of such a mis-configuration no error message is shown. In case more than 2 channels shall be used under GSIF, activate 'Force ADAT' in the Settings dialog before starting the software. Error messages / no sound: In case Gigasampler is used in 24 bit and Cubase is started with ASIO 16 bit currently no dialog box is shown, but ASIO sound output is stopped. To re-activate ASIO sound output set ASIO back to the previously used 16 bit (in our driver settings), and select 'Reset Devices'. In case this functionality is not included in the used software simply re-start the ASIO software. Important notes on former driver updates: The multi-device mode for DirectSound requires 'Force ADAT' to be set in the Settings dialog! This mode is not officially supported from Windows, but works perfect with BPM-Studio. According to our tests Multi-client DS operation is also working. Since driver version 4.70 DirectSound is handled different: - The DS part is no longer compatible to Windows 95. Advantage: Under Windows 98 files with 11 and 22 kHz sample rate will be played back using the correct speed/pitch. - DirectSound is now de-activated by default. To use DirectSound with the DIGI96 series uncheck 'Disable DS' in the Settings dialog. Advantage: Programs like Gigasampler can no longer block the MME and ASIO driver of the DIGI96 series by senseless DirectSound actions (example: Cubase VST with EndlessWave as MIDI I/O). First driver installation: All cards of the DIGI96 Series share the same driver and will be automatically installed by Plug and Play. During the installation of the driver point to the directory where the driver files are located. We recommend to copy them to a root directory, for example onto a floppy disk. Driver update: First exit the DIGI96 systray program (right mouse click). Under System Control /System /Device Manager /Sound, Video and Game Controllers /DIGI96 Series cards /Properties /Driver you'll find the 'Update Driver' button. Choose 'Search for a better driver' and follow the instructions on the screen. Point to the directory where these update files are located. In case Windows doesn't find one of the files during the update process use the search button to point to the directory where the update files are located. Copyright RME 03/2001 All rights reserved.
