Start Windows and click on the Start icon. 2. Select Settings. 3. Click on Printers. 4. Double click on Add Printer. 5. Click Next for the Add Printer Wizard. 6. Click Have Disk. 7. Insert the Document WorkCenter Pro 610 printer driver diskette in the A drive and select OK. 8. The Add Printer dialog box displays Document WorkCenter Pro 610. Click Next. 9. If there was a previous copy of the Pro 610 driver already loaded, a dialog box will appear. Select Replace Existing Driver, then click Next. 10. Select the appropriate port. Usually LPT1 for a local printer. 11. Click Next. 12. Select whether or not you want your Windows-based programs to use the Pro 610 as the default Printer. 13. Click Next. 14. Select whether or not you wish a Test Page. 15. Click Finish. 16. The Document WorkCenter Pro 610 icon now shows up in the Printers window. Click on the icon with the right mouse button and select Properties. 17. Click on Details. 18. Under "Print to the following port:", it should say "LPT1: (Printer Port)". If it does say Print Port, you can go ahead and use the printer for printing now. If it says "LPT1: (ECP Printer Port)", please follow the instruction below to change your parallel port setting. The Document WorkCenter Pro 610 is not ECP compatible. Note: if printer installation is unsuccessful, check cable connection and reboot PC. To turn off ECP setting: ------------------------ 1. Click on the Start icon. 2. Select Settings. 3. Click on Control Panel. 4. Double click on System. 5. Select Device Manager. 6. Double click on Ports(COM & LPT). 7. Double click on ECP Printer Port. 8. Select Driver. 9. Click on Change Driver. 10. Click on Show all Devices. 11. Under Models, select Printer Port. 12. Click OK. 13. Make sure it says Printer Port under Driver. Click OK to continue. 14. Click "Close" to close the System Properties window. 15. Close the Control Panel window. 16. Reboot your system for the change to take effect. To un-install: 1. Start Windows and click on the Start icon. 2. Select Settings. 3. Click on Printers. 4. Highlight the Document WorkCenter Pro 610 icon. 5. Press the Delete key. 6. It will ask you "Are you sure you want to delete the printer Document WorkCenter Pro 610?". Click on Yes. 7. It will ask you "Some files were used only for this printer, and are no longer needed. Would you like to delete these files now?". Click on Yes. 8. If the Document WorkCenter Pro 610 was your default printer, a message will come up telling you that the default printer has been deleted. Click OK to continue. The followings are known problems with the printer driver and workarounds: Problem: Turbo Tax: problem printing fonts ------------------------------------------ Fonts come out all distorted. The workaround is to select Print as graphics under the TrueType option. Problem: Vertical gridlines do not print in Excel ------------------------------------------------- Vertical gridlines sometimes do not print when using the "Print Gridlines" option. The workaround is to set the graphics mode to HPGL/2. Problem: Dotted lines in Harvard Graphics do not print correctly ---------------------------------------------------------------- Dotted lines do not print as what they look like on the screen. The word- around is to set the graphics mode to HPGL/2. Problem: Certain TrueType fonts do not print correctly ------------------------------------------------------ Certain TrueType fonts do not print correctly. Sometimes the fonts come out all clustered. The workaround is the change the TrueType option to Download as bit image. Problem: Dotted lines do not print in 600 dpi in Word 6.0 --------------------------------------------------------- In Word 6.0, the dotted lines from "Shades and Borders" do not print in 600 dpi. The workaround is to print in 300 dpi or to upgrade to Word 7.0 or above. Problem: Adding multiple softfonts sometimes causes GPF ------------------------------------------------------- Adding multiple fonts from the Font dialog box may result in GPF. The work- around is to add one font at a time. Problem: Some character cannot be printed in Czech Windows ---------------------------------------------------------- Two Slovak characters do not print in TrueType font in Czech Windows. The workaround is to select Print as graphics under the TrueType option in the Graphics dialog box. Problem: Driver UI disappears when Help Hint hotspot is highlighted ------------------------------------------------------------------- If the context help item is highlighted, the UI would disappear to the background, requiring a click on the application taskbar to return to the driver UI. Problem: ? Feature does not give detailed information ----------------------------------------------------- The ? feature only provide general Help information. For more detailed Help information, please click the Help button. Problem: Incorrect positioning of vertical line (char |) -------------------------------------------------------- The 'pipe' character was sometimes mis-aligned when used as a vertical line separator. Problem: Lotus 1-2-3: Line and box data loss -------------------------------------------- Complex text and graphics documents would be printed without some, but not all, line and box graphics. Problem: Strikeout in Arial font repeated all along the line ------------------------------------------------------------ The strikeout attribute was not being switched off, thus repeating the setting if not required. Problem: CorelDraw 5: problem with 'coarse' setting --------------------------------------------------- When using CorelDraw 5, dither settings at 'coarse' caused a GPF. Problem: Corel WordPerfect 7: print font incorrectly when ATM is ON ------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Corel WordPerfect 7 with ATM ON, the Lucida bright fonts were printed at extra large print sizes when only small values were chosen. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
