Server Driver for Novell NetWare 4.X Introduction: ------------- This document describes the procedure to install the NetWare v4.X server driver for AcerLAN ALN-101 PnP Ethernet adapter. Location of Driver: \NWSERVER\ALN101.LAN Installaton Procedure : --------------------- Before you start with the installation process, make sure that the Novell NetWare v4.X server is properly installed. Similarly, your adapter should also be properly installed in your server. 1. Insert the AcerLAN Driver Diskette into drive A and check the contents of subdirectory \NWSERVER, It should contain the following files: ALN101.LANÄÄÄ Novell NetWare Server Driver ALN101.LDIÄÄÄ Novell NetWare V4.X Server Driver Installation Information File 2. At the NetWare prompt (indicated by the Server name), run the INSTALL.NLM program by typing: server name: LOAD INSTALL <Enter> 3. Select "Driver Options" and press <Enter>. 4. Select "Configure network drivers" and press <Enter>. 5. Select "load a driver" and press <Enter>. 6. Press the <Ins> key to specify other drivers to install. 7. Press <F3> and specify the driver path (A:\NWSERVER), or only press <Enter>. 8. Select ALN101.LAN and press <Enter>. 9. Select "Select/Modify driver parameters and protocols", make sure the "Physical Board number" should give a different number between each LAN card. 10. Select "Save parameters and load driver" and press <Enter>. The system would auto-detect the network number for you, or give you a random number. 11. If you want to add multiple segment network, repeate the procedure 8,9,10. 12. Exit the INSTALL module. 13. Add the LOAD and BIND statements you require to the server's AUTOEXEC.NCF file so that the LAN driver will load automatically each time the server starts up. Installation Notes: ------------------- 1. Installing Multiple LAN Adapters: You should insert all the LAN adapters into your system, and connect the cable (UTP or BNC) to the adapter, ignore the network number which segment is, just connect it. Follow the procedures above, and look at the procedure 9, give a different "Physical Board number" for each adapter. for example, you can give "1" for the first adapter, "2" for the second adapter, etc. 2. The default frame type for the NetWare v4.X binding is Ethernet_802.2 and not Ethernet_802.3. This is the difference between V3.11 and v4.X of NetWare operating system. 3. Edit the AUTOEXEC.NCF if you want to change some parameters.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
