SCO UNIX 5.X Introduction: ------------- This document describes the procedure to install the SCO UNIX MDI driver for AcerLAN ALN-201 PCI Ethernet adapter. Location of Driver: \SCO\MDI\DRIVER.O ------------------ The following files will be used in this installation: ------------------------------------------------------ DRIVER.O : ALN-201 PCI SCO MDI Driver Program SETUP : Transfer dos format to unix format setup program R3E : Used by netconfig MASTER : Used by netconfig NODE : Used by netconfig SPACE.C : Used by netconfig SYSTEM : Used by netconfig LKCFG : Used by netconfig R3E.H : Used by netconfig SPACE.H : Used by netconfig Installing driver procedure on SCO UNIX 5.X : -------------------------------------------- Before you start with the installation process, make sure that the SCO UNIX system is properly installed. Similarly,your adapter should also be properly installed in your machine. 1. Login as root user. (On maintenance mode) 2. Put ALN-201 SCO UNIX Driver diskette to floppy A: and use doscp command to copy the file "setup" for installing ALN-201 SCO UNIX PCI Driver into UNIX's directories as following : # cd / # doscp a:/sco/mdi/setup /setup # chmod +x /setup # ./setup !! if you don't have the directory ,namely, "a:/sco/mdi" in the disk, you should modify contents of the setup file in the floppy. Please check contents of the setup file. 3. Use netconfig utility Avaiable options: # netconfig 4. To add adapters, select "Add New Lan Adapter" from "Hardware". 5. When the user completed the above option, then various adapter drivers in SCO UNIX occur and select " AcerLAN ALN-201 PCI Ethernet Driver " item. 6. Add Protocol to select SCO TCP/IP. 7. Enter the internet Address of this interface n.n.n.n 8. Enter the netmask for this interface (default 255.255.255.0) 9. Enter the boardcast address for this interface default: n.n.n.n 10. Do you want to relink to kernel now ? y 11. Do you want this kernel to boot by default (y/n) y 12. Do you want the kernel environment rebuilt (y/n) y 13. Reboot unix # shutdown -g0Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
