OS/2 LAN Requester Introduction: ------------- This document describes the procedure to install NDIS driver on OS/2 LAN Requester for AcerLAN ALN-310 10/100 Base-TX Fast Ethernet Adapter. Location of Driver: \OS2NDIS\ALN310.OS2 (for OS/2 LAN Requester) Installing driver procedure on OS/2 LAN Requester: --------------------------------------------------- Before you start with the installation process, make sure that OS/2 LAN Requester is properly installed. Similarly, your adapter should also be properly installed in your PC. 1. In OS/2 window, Click the "MPTS" icon. 2. The screen will display the IBM Log, press "OK". 3. Select "Install" button. 4. Insert the AcerLAN ALN-310 driver diskette, specify the driver path A:\OS2NDIS and press <Enter>. 5. When complete above step to load ALN310.OS2 into OS/2 system, then configure your system. 6. The same step as step 3, select "Configure" button. 7. The screen will display "Configure" dialog box and select "LAN adapters and protocols" then press "configure" button. 8. The screen will display "LAPS Configuration" dialog box, move highlight to "AcerLAN ALN-310 10/100 Base-TX Fast Ethernet Adapter" item in "Network Adapter" window, and select "NetBios" protocol. Press "OK". 9. Installation is complete now. Shutdown and reset your PC. Multiple adapters installation ===================================================================== For multiple adapters installation, you must do the follows: a. configure <LAN Services> b. configure <MPTS> a. Configure <LAN Services> ------------------------------ 1. From OS/2 desktop, click <LAN Services> 2. In LAN Services windows, click <OS/2 LAN Services Installation/Configuratin> 3. click <OK> when the IBM logo appears. 4. In "Basic or Advanced Installation/Configuration" dialog box, click <Advanced> 5. Select "Install or configure this workstation" in "Installation Tasks" dialog box, and click <OK> 6. Select Server Type (like, Domain controller) then click <OK> 7. Select "Configure a component" from "Installation and Configuration" dialog box, and click <OK> 8. Select "LAN Services Adapters" from "Configure" dialog box, and click <Configure...> 9. Select the LAN adapters to be used by LAN Services (for 2 adapters, select Adapter 0, Adapter 1 ) and click <OK> 10.Assign the NETBIOS Resources like Sessions, Commands & Names (you can use the default value) and click <OK> for different adapters. 11.Click <OK> from "Configure" dialog box. 12.Select "Apply the changes" and click <OK> from "Installation and Configuration" dialog box. 13.Follow screen instructions to complete the installation. 14.Shut down and reboot the machine. b. Configure <MPTS> ---------------------------------- If you have more than one adapter, you need to configure each of them for different Slots by clicking <Edit> in "Configure" windows. ******************************************************************** * NOTE!! * * * * Each slot represents an PCI adapter index value for one * * adapter installed (AcerLAN ALN-310 10/100 Base-TX Fast * * Ethernet Adapter) assigned by the PCI-BIOS. For example, if * * the 1st slot is assigned slot=16, then the next slot will be * * assigned slot=17, the third slot=18 and so forth until the * * last slot * * * ******************************************************************** c. Setup Real Mode (NDIS 2) Driver Parameters on LAN Requester There are 4 parameters can be set in driver installation & reconfiguration 1. Slot number: the PCI board index, range is 16..26, default is 16. This parameter is used to distinguish activated board when multiple ALN-310 adapters are enabled by the driver. 2. Sia Mode: the connection type of the LAN board, can be selected from TP, TP_FULL_DUPLEX and AUTODETECT, default is AUTODETECT. 3. Data Rate: for AcerLAN ALN-310 10/100 Base-TX Fast Ethernet Adapter only. MB10 : speed is 10 Mbps, MB100: speed is 100 Mbps. 4. Tx FIFO threshold: transmit FIFO threshold level LW128 : threshold is 128 bytes (100Mbps), 72 bytes (10Mbps), LW256 : threshold is 256 bytes (100Mbps), 96 bytes (10Mbps), LW512 : threshold is 512 bytes (100Mbps), 128 bytes (10Mbps), LW1024: threshold is 1024 bytes (100Mbps), 160 bytes (10Mbps), FP : Disable early transmit. ---- All trademarks or brand names mentioned are properties of their respective companies.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
