LAN Manager Workstation/Server Introduction: ------------- This document describes the procedure to setup Microsoft LAN Manager Workstation/Server driver for AcerLAN ALN-310 10/100 Base-TX Fast Ethernet Adapter. Location of Driver: \MSLANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\ETHERNET\ALN310\ALN310.DOS Sample Configuration Files: --------------------------- CONFIG.SYS : DEVICE=C:\LANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\PROTMAN\PROTMAN.DOS /I:C:\LANMAN.DOS DEVICE=C:\LANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\ETHERNET\ALN310\ALN310.DOS PROTOCOL.INI (will contain): [ALN310_NIF] ; ALN310 RPOTOCOL.INI SAMPLE DriverName = ALN310$ Slot = 16 ;; {16-26} SIA_Mode = AUTODETECT ; {SIA_Mode = TP, TP_FULL_DUPLEX, AUTODETECT} DATA_RATE = MB100 ;; {MB10, MB100} Setup Procedures: ----------------- Before you start with the installation process, make sure that the adapter is properly installed and configured. Make sure your Microsoft LAN Manager is properly installed. 1. Run the appropriate Microsoft Lan Manager SETUP for computer you are setting up. Select "Configuration" item ,select the <Other Driver> item (the AcerLAN driver isn't included on the LAN Manager disk) and insert the AcerLAN driver disk, specify the drive name of the driver disk (don't specify the path name), and follow the directions. 2. When completed, reboot your computer . NOTES: ------ 1. Parameters for the PROTOCOL.INI file: Slot : This parameter specifies which network adapter is used by the driver. If you have only one AcerLAN ALN-310 10/100 Base-TX Fast Ethernet Adapter in your machine, this parameter is unnecessary!! For two or more 32-bit PCI LAN cards, this parameters is required and cannot be omitted from PROTOCOL.INI. The slot ID. for the first LAN card is 16, for the second is 17, and 18 for the third, etc. Default value is 16. SIA_Mode : This parameter specifies the physical media that the LAN card is attached. The keyword AUTODETECT means driver will auto sense the physical media during card initialization. TP means twisted-pair (RJ-45 or 10BaseT). If you want to enable full duplex function of the LAN card, you have to choose TP_FULL_DUPLEX as the medium type. The default value is AUTODETECT. DATA_RATE : This parameter specifies the line speed for AcerLAN ALN-310 10/100 Base-TX Fast Ethernet Adapter card. This adapter supports two transmittion rates, 10Mbps & 100Mbps. The keywords for different transmittion rates are MB10 and MB100,respectively. This parameters is meaningless for 10M PCI Ethernet card and cannot be set if Sia_Mode is AUTODETECT. The default value is MB100. 2. Sample PROTOCOL.INI for LAN Manager: [PROTMAN] DRIVERNAME = PROTMAN$ DYNAMIC = YES PRIORITY = NETBEUI [NETBEUI_XIF] Drivername = netbeui$ SESSIONS = 6 NCBS = 12 BINDINGS = "ALN310_NIF" LANABASE = 0 [ALN310_NIF] ; ; ALN310 PROTOCOL.INI Sample Adapter ; DriverName = ALN310$ Slot = 16 ;; {16-26} SIA_Mode = AUTODETECT ; {SIA_Mode = TP, TP_FULL_DUPLEX, AUTODETECT} DATA_RATE = MB100 ;; {MB10, MB100}Download Driver Pack
