DOS LAN Service Introduction: ------------- This file describes the procedure to install NDIS driver on DOS LAN service for AcerLAN ALN-310 10/100 Base-TX Fast Ethernet Adapter Location of Driver: \DOSNDIS\ALN310.DOS (for DOS LAN Service) Installing driver procedure on DOS LAN Service : -------------------------------------------------- Before you start with the installation process, make sure that DOS LAN Services is properly installed. Similarly, your adapter should also be properly installed in your client PC. 1. Copy ALN310.DOS from your Driver diskette (A:\DOSNDIS) to DOS LAN Services subdirectory C:\NET . 2. Under DOS LAN Service subdirectory C:\NET, run INSTALL 3. The screen display some description. If it's correct, move highlight to "The listed options are correct" item ,then press ENTER. 4. Move highlight to "Network Card", then press ENTER. 5. Select "Change driver for network card." item, then press ENTER. 6. Select "Network card not shown in list below..", then press ENTER. 7. Insert the AcerLAN ALN-310 driver diskette in floppy A, and specify the pathname A:\DOSNDIS, then press ENTER. 8. AcerLAN ALN-310 driver is now installed on your computer, reboot your computer. NOTES: ------ Parameters for the PROTOCOL.INI file: Network Adapter Slot ID : This parameter specifies which network adapter is used by the driver. If you have only one AcerLAN ALN-310 10/100 Base-TX Fast Ethernet Adapter in your machine, this parameter is unnecessary!! For two or more 32-bit PCI LAN cards, this parameters is required and cannot be omitted from PROTOCOL.INI. The slot ID. for the first LAN card is 16, for the second is 17, and 18 for the third, etc. Default value is 16. Slot = 16 ;; {16-26} Physical Medium Type : This parameter specifies the physical media that the LAN card is attached. The keyword AUTODETECT means driver will auto sense the physical media during card initialization. TP means twisted-pair (RJ-45 or 10BaseT). If you want to enable full duplex function of the LAN card, you have to choose TP_FULL_DUPLEX as the medium type. The default value is AUTODETECT. SIA_Mode = AUTODETECT ; {SIA_Mode = TP, TP_FULL_DUPLEX, AUTODETECT} Data Transmittion Rate : This parameter specifies the line speed for AcerLAN ALN-310 10/100 Base-TX Fast Ethernet Adapter card. This adapter supports two transmittion rates, 10Mbps & 100Mbps. The keywords for different transmittion rates are MB10 and MB100,respectively. This parameters is meaningless for 10M PCI Ethernet card and cannot be set if Sia_Mode is AUTODETECT. The default value is MB100. DATA_RATE = MB100 ;; {MB10, MB100} Transmit FIFO Threshold Level : This parameter specifies the FIFO threshold level during packet transmittion. The AcerLAN ALN-310 10/100 Base-TX Fast Ethernet Adapter support 4 type of threshold levels: 128, 256, 512, 1024 bytes. If you do not enable the early transmit function, set it to FP(Full Packet) mode. The threshold levels for 10M series adapters include 72, 96, 128, 160 bytes. The keywords of TX_Threshold are LW128(72bytes), LW256(96 bytes), LW512(128 bytes), LW1024(160 bytes) and FP(10M PCI card dose not support this mode). The default value is LW1024. TX_THRESHOLD = LW1024 ;; { LW128,LW256,LW512,LW1024}Download Driver Pack
