This document contains D-Link DE-220 Family Ethernet Adapter installation notes,
which is not included in the DE-220 Family Ethernet Adapter USER'S GUIDE
or onscreen instructions, for NetWare Server V4.0 or later users.

1.0 Overview

2.0 Installation Notes

    2.1 First time installation from the installation menu
    ------------------------------------------------------
    (for NetWare Server V4.1 only, for other version see below)
    1. Proceed with the following steps:
       Start the NetWare Server.

       Example:
       C:\> cd \nwserver
       C:\NWSERVER> server

    2. Execute "LOAD INSTALL" after booting up by typing
       : LOAD INSTALL

    3. Select "Driver Options", -> "Configure network drivers", and
       -> "Select a driver".

    4. Press <Insert> key to install an unlisted driver.

    5. Please insert release driver diskette into the floppy disk drive.

    6. Press <F3> to specify a different <PATH>. <PATH> is directory
       which include both DE22X.LAN and DE22X.LDI

       Example: A:\NETWARE\32BITLAN

    7. Select "DE22X.LAN ....".

    8. Specify "Legacy ISA Card " which is decided by your
       DE-220 Family Ethernet Adapter cofiguration. The "Legacy ISA Card"
       means that the DE-220 Family Ethernet Adapters are Non-PnP or
       PnP disable.

    9. In "Legacy ISA Card " option, select "Yes" . It means that you
       need to select "Port " number , otherwise just select "Slot"
       number.

   10. Select "Save parameters and load driver" after configure adpter
       setting.

   11. The NetWare server will be loading/binding driver automatically.

    2.2   Reinstallation from the installation menu
    -----------------------------------------------
    (for NetWare 4.1x only, for other version see below)
    1. Proceed with the following steps:
       Start the NetWare Server.

       C:\> cd \nwserver
       C:\NWSERVER> server

    2. Execute "LOAD INSTALL" after booting up.  Type,
       : LOAD INSTALL

    3. Select "Driver Options", -> "Configure network drivers", and
       -> "Select a driver".

    4. Select "DE22X.LAN ...." in Select a driver windows.

    5. Specify "Legacy ISA Card " which is decided by your
       DE-220 Family Ethernet Adapter cofiguration. The "Legacy ISA Card"
       means that the DE-220 Family Ethernet Adapters are Non-PnP or

    2.3  Modifying an existing NetWare 4.x Server
    ---------------------------------------------
    1. Proceed with the following steps:
       Make a sub-directory NLMS.OLD under NWSERVER directory.
       Example: C:\>md \nwserver\nlms.old

    2. Save NBI.NLM, MSM.NLM and ETHERNET.NLM to NLMS.OLD
       sub-directory.

    3. Please insert release driver diskette into the disk drive.

    4. Copy all provided NLM and LAN files into your DOS directory
       which will include the SERVER.EXE file.

       Example:
       C:\>copy a:\netware\32bitlan\*.nlm c:\nwserver

    5. Start the NetWare Server.

       C:\> cd \nwserver
       C:\NWSERVER> server

    6. From the Novell Server side, execute "LOAD INSTALL" by typing
       :LOAD INSTALL
        Select <NCF files options>
        Select <Edit AUTOEXEC.NCF file>

    7. Add the item below into the server's AUTOEXEC.NCF file.

       LOAD C:\NWSERVER\NBI.NLM
       LOAD C:\NWSERVER\MSM.NLM
       LOAD C:\NWSERVER\ETHERTSM.NLM

       LOAD C:\NWSERVER\DE22X ISA PORT=300 INT=B FRAME=Ethernet_802.3
            NAME=DE22X_1_E83
       BIND IPX DE22X_1_E83 NET=xxxx

       LOAD C:\NWSERVER\DE22X ISA PORT=300 INT=B FRAME=Ethernet_802.2
            NAME=DE22X_1_E82
       BIND IPX DE22X_1_E82 NET=xxxx

       LOAD C:\NWSERVER\DE22X ISA PORT=300 INT=B FRAME=Ethernet_II
            NAME=DE22X_1_EII
       BIND IPX DE22X_1_EII NET=xxxx

       LOAD C:\NWSERVER\DE22X ISA PORT=300 INT=B FRAME=Ethernet_SNAP
            NAME=DE22X_1_ESP
       BIND IPX DE22X_1_E83NET=xxxx

    8. Restart the server.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
