  - To install Windows 2000 drivers, use path a:\ and select a:\netana.inf
    After the first port is installed, netana.inf is copied to the harddrive
    and renamed to oem0.inf, select the oem0.inf file and continue install
    for each additional port.

2. For lastest Service Pack from Microsoft, go to www.microsoft.com;
   it is highly recommended that you update to the latest Service Pack 
   from Microsoft. 

3. For latest Adaptec DuraLAN driver updates go to www.adaptec.com


4. To determine which versions of Windows 95 you have, refer to the
   DuraLAN installation manual.





Microsoft Windows 2000 Configuation for
Failover, PortAggregation, and Fast EtherChannel 
=================================================

1. Open Network and Dial-up Connections

2. Disable all the Local Area Connection network adapters

3. Right click a Local Area Connection and select properties

4. Double Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and configure the TCP/IP network
   configurations. Enter the same TCP/IP network settings for the secondary
   ports within the same Group (ie., IP address, Gateway, DNS). An
   information message will Pop-Up claiming another NIC already has this
   IP address, Click NO on the Information Pop-Up screen. Click OK to accept
   the network configurations.

4. Click Configure Tab, then Click Advaced Tab

5. Select Group Name, on the Value list select GroupN, where N is a number
   from 1 through 6

6. Select Group Type, on the Value list select either Standalone, Failover,
   Port Aggreation, or Fast EtherChannel

7. To join additional ports to the Group, Repeat Steps 3 thru 7. Group Name
   and Group Type must be the same within this Group.

8. After Groupings are done, enable the Group by double clicking on the
   Local Area Connection network adapters. The first port which is enabled
   will be the Primary Port.
   




Q & A for Windows 2000

1. Q: How are Groups assigned under Windows 2000?
   A: Groups are bundled by Using two Fields, Group Name and Group Type. To
      configure multiple ports into a Group, be sure to match the Group Name 
      and Group Type.                 

2. Q: Which protocols does Windows 2000 support for Duralink64 Standalone, 
      Failover, and Fast EtherChannel modes?
   A: All protocols provided by the Microsoft Windows 2000 Operating 
      System are supported.

3. Q: Which protocols does Windows 2000 support for Duralink64 Port 
      Aggregation?
   A: Only the TCP/IP protocol is supported.

4. Q: When one port is down or disconnected within a group, the Connection
      Status GUI does not show proper connection status.  What does this 
      mean?
   A: The Connection Status GUI will not show individual ports as inoperative 
      unless all ports within the group are down or disconnected.

5. Q: Can I have a mixture of Failover, Port Aggregation, or
      Fast EtherChannel groups within one system.
   A: Yes, you can configure different Types of Groups.

6. Q: Does Duralink64 support Hot Plug (Unplug or Eject Device).
   A: Yes, Duralink64 supports Hot Plug on x86 systems that support Hot Plug.
      To have Hot Plug work correctly, all ports within the Group must be
      assigned with the same Network Configuration settings and IP Address.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
