NDIS Driver for Banyan VINES Installation Introduction: ------------- This document describes the procedure to setup the Banyan VINES for PCMCIA/CT II Ethernet card. Before you start with the installation process, make sure that the Card Manager software has been successfully installed. For information on installing the Card Manager software, please refer to the appropriate readme file, your Ethernet Adapter manual, or your computer manufacturer. Location of Driver: \VINES\PCM200.DOS ------------------ To install Banyan VINES 5.xx software on a DOS base workstation, follow the instructions. DOS must be installed on the target workstation C: drive, or you must have a bootable DOS floppy diskette. 1. Installation Porcedure: a. Use the DOS MD command to create a subdirectory called \VINES. b. Copy the contents of the VINES LAN S/W (DOS) Install diskette into the \VINES subdirectory. c. Copy the contents of the NDIS subdirectory on the VINES LAN S/W (DOS) 2 of 2 diskette into the \VINES subdirectory. d. Copy all files from \MSLANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\ETHERNET\PCM200 subdirectory on the driver diskette to the \VINES subdirectory. e. Edit the PROTOCOL.INI file to read as follows: [PROTOCOL MANAGER] DRIVERNAME = PROTMAN$ [VINES_XIF] DRIVERNAME = NDISBAN$ BINDINGS = PCM200 [PCM200] IOBASE = 0x300 INTERRUPT = 5 DRIVERNAME = PCM200$ f. Run the PCCONFIG.EXE program located in the \VINES subdirectory. g. Select option 1, Network Card Settings. h. Select the "NDIS Ethernet" option. i. The NDIS workstation screen appears. Enter the IRQ that you selected for the PCMCIA/CT II adapter. j. Press 'F10' when done, press <ESC> to exit this screen. k. Select "2 - Login Environment Settings. ", Press <Enter>. l. Select "1 - Select Default Communications Driver. ", Press <Enter>. m. Choose "NDIS Ethernet", Press <ESC> to exit this menu. n. Edit the CONFIG.SYS file and add the following lines, substituting A: for C: for a floppy diskette installation. DEVICE=C:\VINES\PROTMAN.DOS /I:C:\VINES DEVICE=C:\VINES\PCM200.DOS o. Add the BAN command to the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. BAN loads the NDISBAN drivers and reads the PCCONFIG.DB file to invoke changes made during the PCCONFIG stage. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
