NOVELL'S OPEN DATA-LINK INTERFACE (ODI)

Installation Procedures for the Following Networks:

    Novell Netware (Version 2.1x)
    Novell Netware (Version 3.x)
    Novell Netware Lite (Version 1.00)

1.  Copy the file GCS1ODI.COM from the \ODI subdirectory on your Drivers 
    Disk to the appropriate subdirectory on your hard disk or network boot 
    diskette.

2.  To start the workstation, change to the appropraite subdirectory and 
    load the drivers in the following order:

        LSL
        GCS1ODI
        IPXODI
        NETX

3.  Change to the network driver (Usually F:\LOGIN>).

5.  Log in to the network.

*   Novell Netware Lite (Version 1.00)
******************************************************************************

1.  Install NetWare Lite according to the instructions in the NetWare 
    Lite Manual.

2.  When prompted for type of network adaptor, choose "3Com EtherLink II"
    and complete the installation.

3.  Copy the file GCS1ODI.COM from the \ODI subdirectory on your Drivers
    Disk to the \NWLITE subdirectory on your hard disk or boot diskette.

4.  Use an ASCII text editor to replace the driver command (eg.3C503) in
    your STARTNET.BAT file with:

        GCS1ODI.COM

5.  Save the file.

6.  Reboot the PC.

7.  Change to the \NWLITE subdirectory and type STARTNET to start the
    network on that station.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
