Monitor Driver Installation Procedure For Windows 98 Please note that monitor drivers do not control the number of colors you can display in Windows. They only enable Windows to recognize the maximum resolution and refresh rate of your monitor. If you are having problems displaying more than 16 colors in Windows, you need to install a driver for your Video card. Contact your Video card or Computer maker for help. PROCEDURE 1 (Installing a driver from an inf file) 1. Click START 2. Select SETTINGS 3. Select CONTROL PANEL 4. From the CONTROL PANEL, double click the DISPLAY icon 5. From the Display Properties Window, select the SETTINGS tab 6. Click the ADVANCED button 7. Click the MONITOR tab 8. Click CHANGE If the "Update Device Driver Wizard" appears on the screen, follow steps 9, 10, & 11 otherwise skip to step 12. 9. Click NEXT 10. Select "Display all the drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want". 11. Click NEXT 12. Click HAVE DISK 13. Type "C:\Elements" in the space provided. 14. Click OK 15. Make sure that the line "SHOW ALL HARDWARE" is the one that is selected from the two available choices. Double click the model from the list provided that matches the model of your monitor. 16. Click NEXT 17. Click FINISH 18. Click CLOSE 19. Click OK End of Procedure 1 Procedure 2 (Installing a Standard Monitor Driver) 1. Click START 2. Select SETTINGS 3. Select CONTROL PANEL 4. From the CONTROL PANEL, double click the DISPLAY icon 5. From the Display Properties Window, select the SETTINGS tab 6. Click the ADVANCED button 7. Click the MONITOR tab 8. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
