README Driver File Contents (d9331f.exe)

Note: The VGDIAG.EXE diagnostic utility verifies that your 10/100VG-AnyLAN
Adapter is functioning properly. The adapter as well as cabling and hub ports
can be diagnosed for functionality. VGDIAG.EXE also programs configuration
information into the EEPROM on the adapter. During the EEPROM programming
phase, VGDIAG.EXE must be the only program or driver communicating with the
adapter. In other words, no other software driver can be loaded when running
VGDIAG.EXE. If VGDIAG.EXE detects another driver installed and communicating
with the adapter, the program will display the message "WARNING: Please turn
off computer and try again". This is not an adapter error condition. It simply
indicates that VGDIAG.EXE can not execute while other drivers are installed
for the adapter. You may wish to create a DOS boot diskette specifically for
running VGDIAG.EXE.

Note: Bus-Master Mode vs. Programmed I/O Mode on 8156

VGDIAG still allows the user the option of setting Bus-Master mode, Shared
Memory mode, or Programmed I/O mode for the 8156, and the EEPROM will be
written accordingly. However, this selection is ignored by certain drivers,
which use some other mechanism to determine the data transfer mode. Please
refer to the driver documentation for more information.
