WHICH WINDOWS 9X/ME VERSION/BUILD ARE YOU USING?

FYI:
- MSKB: "How to Determine the Version of Windows 95/98/ME in Use":
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=158238
- Microsoft OS Code Names:
http://bink.nu/mscodes.htm

I. To find out EXACTLY which version of Windows 95, 98 or ME you are using:

A. With Windows 95/98/ME GUI started:
1. Right-click on your "My Computer" desktop icon.
2. Left-click on Properties.
3. Select the General tab.
If it says (example):

	System:
	Microsoft Windows 95
	4.00.950 B

you are running Windows 95B OSR 2.0 or 2.1 [4.00.950 B].
More details:

B. Or type this command at any DOS prompt:

	VER /R

and press Enter.
It should return a message like this (example):

	Windows 95. [Windows 4.00.1111]
	Revision A
	DOS is in HMA

This means your OS is Windows 95B OSR 2.0 or 2.1 [4.00.950 B] or Windows 95C
OSR 2.5 [4.00.950 C], which come both with MS-DOS version 7.10.

II. To determine your KERNEL32.DLL build follow these steps:
1. Open Windows Explorer.
2. Right-click on KERNEL32.DLL (located in your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder).
3. Left-click on Properties.
4. Select the Version tab.
5. In the "Item name:" table, scroll down to "Product Version".
6. Look at the right hand "Value:" table for a number like 4.xx.xxxx.x. It
represents the Windows 95/98/ME build.
Example: if your KERNEL32.DLL build is 4.03.1212 you have Windows 95B OSR 2.1
[4.00.950 B] upgraded with OSR 2.1 USB Supplement Upgrade Pack [USBSUP].
