FILE: readme.txt Copyright (c), Symmetric Research, 2003-2006 NOTE: Acquire **requires** the .NET framework in order to run. If you get an error message saying mscoree.dll can not be found, you do not have the .NET framework installed on your machine. Acquire is a short Visual Basic program showing how to use the PARxCH function library, parxch.dll, to control the PARxCH board. It has been built with Visual Studio 2005. The executable is located in the Acquire\bin subdirectory, but it can be accessed with the Acquire.lnk shortcut in this directory. When run, it comes up as a simple form with several controls. To begin acquisition, set the port mode and address as appropriate for your computer and click the Run button. Acquisition will start and data will be written out to binary files with names ending in .out. Click the Stop button to halt acquisition and the Exit button to end the demo. The parxch.vb module file sets up an interface that allows Visual Basic programs to call functions in the PARxCH function library parxch.dll. The .vb file assumes the DLL is in the standard C:\SR\PARXCH\LIB directory. You'll need to edit the .vb file if the PARxCH software was installed in a different location. When writing your own Visual Basic program, be sure to include parxch.vb in the project. If the PARxCH DLL is compiled with GPS support, it calls a function in the PARGPS DLL. In this situation, the demo must also be compiled with GPS support and the PARGPS library interface module, C:\SR\PARGPS\VBASIC\PARGPS.VB, must be included in the project. To compile the demo with GPS support, just set the GPS_AVAILABLE compilation constant = -1 (ie TRUE) in the Advanced Compile Options area of the Project Properties dialog or type nmake USE_GPS="Yes" /a to rebuild from the command line. Note: The Acquire.exe executable was compiled with Visual Studio 2005. It must be able to find the .NET framework files at runtime. The files included in the Acquire demo project are: .
