For Windows 98 SE (Second Edition) users:

Updating your current installation of RDC-5000 USB drivers

It is necessary to update the driver in the following cases:

1) "RDC-5000 USB driver (V1.00)" has been installed on Windows 98 SE.
2) "RDC-5000 USB driver (V1.00)" has been installed on Windows 98, and the OS has been updated to Windows 98 SE.

Please follow procedures as described below:

Preparation:
Extract the file ricohUSB101.exe to a floppy disk or a new folder on you hard drive. 

Procedure:
 
Make sure that four files ("Rdccam1.inf", "Rdccam2.inf", "Rdcumas2.sy_", "Rdcumass.mp_") are properly copied in the floppy disk or folder.

1. Connect RDC-5000 camera to your PC by the USB cable, and set the camera's mode dial to "PC".

2. From the "Start" button, select "Setting" - "Control Panel" - "System" and confirm that version of OS is "Windows 98 Second Edition".

3. Open the "Device Manger" window and check if a "!" mark is displayed on the "RDC-5000 USB Drive" under "SCSI controllers".

4. Select "RDC-5000 USB Drive" and execute "Remove" and click "OK" at the confirmation screen.

5. Insert the floppy disk you created that has the new USB drivers.

6. From "Device Manager", double click on "USB Serial Bus Controllers". Click "RDC-5000" and then select "Property" button.

7. Select "Update Driver" button on the "Driver" window of "RDC-5000
Properties".

8. "Update Device Driver Wizard" window will launch. Select the "better driver" button.

9. At "search for updated drivers" window, check "Floppy disk" (or navigate to the appropriate folder) and click the "Next" button.

10. Click "Next" button to continue installation at the confirmation window.

11. Click "Finish" button at the finish installation confirmation window.

Note: In case Windows request to restart the computer, follow the message to reboot the system.

12. Open Explore to confirm that RDC-5000 is added as removable drives.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
