[USB Driver System Requirements]
Platform: Windows 98 or 98 SE (Second Edition) preinstalled with operating factory USB port
Note: Driver not supported by Windows 95, systems upgraded to Windows 98
may not properly support this driver. This driver will not operate a USB
port. USB ports emulating from a PCI port may not function properly.

The first time you connect your camera to a USB equipped computer, you must
install the camera's USB drivers as described below:

[Driver setup procedure]
(1) After Windows 98 has booted, insert the Software CD included in your kit.
(2) Connect the camera to the PC using the supplied USB cable included in
your kit.
(3) When the camera is detected, the Windows 98 add hardware wizard will
launch.
(4) Select the CD-ROM drive to install the RDC-5000 drivers.
Important Note:
The camera's flash and autofocus LEDs will light while the USB driver is
installing. Never turn off the camera or disconnect the cable during this
period.
Notes:
The install wizard will launch twice. Allow the wizard to finish without
interruption. Use of the camera's AC adapter is recommended during file
transfer. Data may be corrupted by a sudden loss of power. Only use the
Ricoh USB cable included in your kit.

[File transfer procedures]
(1) After Windows 98 has booted , connect the camera to the PC using the
supplied USB cable.
(2) Turn on the camera and set the mode dial to [PC].
When Windows detects the camera, two drives (internal memory and SmartMedia
if you have one in the camera memory card) will appear in "my computer".
You can then copy images from the memory sources in the camera to your
computer's disk drives.
(3) To disconnect the camera, ensure the flash and autofocus LEDs are not
blinking and turn off the camera. Disconnect the USB cable.

Important Note:
The camera's flash and autofocus LEDs will blink while connected. Never
turn off the camera or disconnect cables during this period. Damage to
your computer may result. Do not attempt to compress or format the memory
in the camera with ant disk tools.
The camera may not work correctly if it is connected to a PC in combination
with any other USB device.

Note:
If the process of copying files from a PC to the camera is interrupted, an
incomplete file may be left in the camera's memory. To correct this
problem, turn on the camera's power again and run a scan disk procedure
(standard) from the PC.
