***** Procedure for updating the FastPoint USB Light Pen driver:

From the Start menu, select Settings->Control Panel to bring up the Control Panel.

Select the System control panel applet.

Select the Device Manager tab.

Make sure "View devices by type" is selected.

In the device tree list, expand the branch entitled "Universal Serial Bus controllers".

Select the "FastPoint Technologies Light Pen" device and bring up it's Properties dialog box.

Select the Driver tab.

Select the "Update Driver..." button.

This will bring up the Update Device Driver Wizard.

The first wizard dialog says "This wizard searches for updated drivers for: FastPoint Technologies Light Pen". Click Next.

The next wizard dialog says "What do you want to do?" Select "Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now. (Recommended)" and then click Next.

The next wizard dialog determines where the wizard searches for the updated driver files.

If you are installing this update from a floppy disk, check only the "Floppy disk drives" check box.

If you are installing from a hard drive or network connection, select "Specify a location:" and type in the drive path or browse for the location of the LPN.INF file.

Click Next to start the search.

The next wizard dialog says "Windows is now ready to install the best driver for this device." and shows the location of the LPN.INF file. Click Next to continue.

The Light Pen calibration dialog then appears. Click OK to calibrate the light pen.

The Update Device Driver Wizard announces it has finished installing the driver. Click Finish.

The System Settings Change dialog then appears, asking "Do you want to restart your computer now?". Click Yes to restart the computer and complete the update process.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
