SOFTWARE DESCRIPTION 1.1 About this software This is an OEM Edition of the Odyssey Client Manager specially for supporting the ARtem Comcard family based on the Agere's chipset. for example: - Comcard 11 PC Card (Hermes 1 ) - Comcard 11 PC Card (Hermes 2 ) - AgerePCI Adapter Model 0901 - Mini PCI Hermes 2 The Odyssey Client Manager doesn't not support other wireless client Cards. The Comcard54g is also not supported at the moment. The Odyssey Client is capable of authenticating with any Wireless Access point or Ethernet switch that supports the 802.1x protocol. The Odyssey Client is capable of performing 802.1x authentication through any wireless adapter card driver that fully supports the 802.11 OIDs defined in NDIS 5.1. However, this OEM Edition may be intentionally limited to certain brands of hardware. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS 2.1 Operating Systems Odyssey Client runs on any of the following: Windows 2000 (Any edition) Windows XP (Any edition) Windows Millennium Edition Windows 98/98SE Your PC must be running Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher. ------------------------------------------------------------------ 3. NEW IN THIS RELEASE 3.1 Version 2.20 April 2004 * Initial OEM version 4. INSTALLATION NOTES * You must have administrative privileges to install Odyssey Client * For first time installations or upgrades from Odyssey Client version 1.x, double-click the OdysseyClient.msi file, and an installation wizard guides you through the rest of the installation / upgrade process. For Windows 98 and Me machines, use the OdysseyClient.exe file instead. * Before installing Odyssey Client, make sure that no network adapter has an open properties dialog. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. TECHNICAL CONSTRAINTS None ------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. KNOWN ISSUES 6.1 Under Windows 98, the "Enabling and configuring Odyssey" wizard may put an incorrect value in the "Login name" field of the initial profile. 6.2 Certain types of software may interfere if they are enabled when you uninstall the Odyssey Client. Take these precautions before removing the Odyssey Client: * Disable the Windows XP wireless client by unchecking "use Windows to configure my wireless network settings" on the Wireless Networks tab of the Windows Network Connections properties dialog. * Disable personal firewall software. 6.3 Message "Adapter not Licensed" appears. Solution: * Go into the "Help"->"License Key" and delete all License entries. * Reboot the system. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 7. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
