This README.TXT covers information that was not yet known or
available when the user documentation shipped with this product
was written. It includes update information, additional
installation instructions, limitations to the current version of
the product, and suggestions to solve known issues or problems.

1.  SOFTWARE DESCRIPTION

1.1 About this software
    The ARtem Onair Client Manager is a management tool
    that you can use to verify the quality of your wireless radio
    connection to the Compoint network.

    The Onair Communication Interface can be installed on any 
    computer running the MS-Windows 95, 98, ME, NT or 2000 Operating System,
    that has been equipped with a Onair Comcard and the Comcard
    driver version 6.41 or higher is installed.

1.2 Files Installed
    The following files will be installed in the specified
    directory:

    *   CMART.EXE         Client Manager
    *   CMART.DLL         Client Manager Language DLL
    *   WNARTNLS.DLL      Language DLL for CPL
    *   CMAGSNLS.HLP      Client Manager Help File
    *   CMAGSNLS.CNT      Client Manager Contents Help File

2.  SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

2.1 Operating System
    To install and run the Onair Communication Interface you will 
    need the Microsoft Windows 95, 98, ME, NT or 2000 Operating System.

2.2 Free Disk Space
    The installation of the Client Manager requires a
    free disk space of approximately 500 KB.

3.  NEW IN THIS RELEASE

3.1 Version 3.16                                         Sept 2003
    - Hardware radio disable support added.
    - Support for Hermes2 cards added.
    - Zeroconfig under winXP can be switched off

    The following problems have been solved:
    - When in "Continuous data logging/once per second" mode the
      duration column now shows "1" i.s.o. 60.
    - When selecting add/edit profile under XP the zeroconfig
      dialog will be opened.
    - Problem with AP name when CM is running in German language
      solved.
    - When another application is using the full screen, the tray
      icon is not updated anymore.	


3.2 Version 2.90                                            Jul 2002
    The following functionality has been added:
    - Support added for ..51b.cpl and ..48b.cpl file under
      Win2K and XP 
    - Support for USB Card, Variant 2
    - Added error detection code for Wireless PCI Adapter Card
    - Added support for multibrand inf files
    - Problems with the advanced menu in the status screen solved.
      (linktest was not always enabled when it should) 	

3.3 Version 2.58		                           March 2002
    The following problems have been solved:
    - Problem with displaying the AP name after changing the AP
      name solved.
    - Problem with modem icon after profile change solved.
    - Problem with the empty message box in the sitemonitor when
      the selected column cannot be displayed correctly solved.
    - Site monitor problem under XP solved.
    - Freeze button text in sitemonitor is updated in the correct
      language now.
    - "log" extension is fixed now.
    - "txt" extension is fixed now.

3.4 Version 2.18                                            Okt 2001
    The following functionality has been added:

    - The Client Manager is split up in cmart.exe and cmart.dll
      to support differnt languages. Default Language is English (ENU)
      other languages are availible on request.

    - In case of an installtion of a newer version of the Client Manager the
      program will be stopped automaticly and re-started at the end of the
      installation.

    - The Compoint Manager must be installed by a seperate setup program.

    - Support for 99 profiles added.
    
    The following problems have been solved:

    - Update of AP name in status dialog when running a linktest and
      roaming.	

3.5 Version 1.76                                            Mai 2001
    Compared to the OCI Tool the following items      
    has been changed:
    - The user interface has been improved. CCM and OCI
      have been integrated into one CLART.EXE.
    - New, clearer, icons are used to indicate the
      communications quality.
    - Change configuration profile (immediately).
    - Function screens have been reworded and rearranged.
    - Starting the Client Manager while it is already active (but as
      icon on the system tray only) will bring up the Client Manager
      status screen.
    - The Client Manager provides functions to Disable and Enable the
      Card's Radio.  This status is preserved over a system 
      reboot / power off-on cycle.
    - Help File is availible.

4.  INSTALLATION NOTES

4.1 Standard Installation

    Before installation of the Onair Client Manager please remove
    an old installation of the Onair Communication Manager or
    of the OCI tools.
    Please refer to the 'Installation Guide' that came with 
    your product.   
    The Onair Client Manager works only with a Comcard Driver 
    version 6.41 or higher. 
    The Onair Client Manager is managed via an installation wizard.
    You can choose to start the installation wizard by
    double-clicking the setup.exe file.

    The installation wizard will automatically install the
    program files in the following directory on the hard disk
    of your computer:
        C:\Program Files\ARtem\Onair Client Manager
    Optionally you may choose to select another folder or
    hard disk drive for installation of the Client Manager.

4.2 Upgrading  the Client Manager

    Upgrading to a new revision should be done as follows:    

    - Close the Client Manager Application.
    - Execute the Setup programm, don't change the installation
      directory.
    - Follow the instructions on your screen.
    - Upgrade the PC Card Driver.

4.3 Removing the Client Manager

    To remove the Onair Communication Interface from your 
    system, proceed as follows:
    - Click the "Start" button on your Windows task bar,
      point to "Settings" and select "Control Panel".
    - In the Control Panel window, double-click the
      "Add/Remove" icon to display the "Add/Remove
      Program Properties" window.
    - Scroll down the list of applications in the 
      lower section of the "Install/Uninstall" tab, and
      select the item 'Onair Client Manager'.
    - Click the "Add/Remove" button, and follow the
      instructions on your screen.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
