Windows 2000 Driver Swap Utility v1.0.0.5

The Windows 2000 Driver Swap utility is used to disassociate the Microsoft Windows 2000 Mass Storage Class Driver with the USB97C210. This allows installation of the SMSC MSC driver in instaces where the Microsoft driver has already been loaded and associated with the 210. The utility is meant to be run from an automated installer like Wise.

Both files should be placed in the Windows TEMP directory by the installer, and then the exe should be called via a Custom Action. In Wise this should immediately follow the "SetIcon" custom action. The exe then checks to see if the device matching the VID/PID in it's ini file has been associated with the Windows MSC driver. If so it will prompt the user to attach the 210 device to the host (if it is not attached already) and then will disassociate the Microsoft driver and load the SMSC driver.

Instructions for use:

1. Modify the ini file to match the VID/PID for your device.

2. Create a software installer that places both the "SwapDrvr.ini" and "SwapDrvr.exe" files in the Windows TEMP directory.

3. Call the "SwapDrvr.exe" from the installer via a Custom Action after the files have been placed in the TEMP directory.

4. If the "SwapDrvr.exe" detects that a previous instance of the 210 has been installed on the host and associated with the Microsoft driver, a DOS box will appear prompting the user to attach the device and then press any key.

5. Once the SwapDrvr.exe finishes swapping the drivers the DOS box will disappear and the installation will complete normally.
